Great features and clean look
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a replacement for our last whirlpool that lasted about twelve years of hard use. This is a replacement for our last Whirlpool that lasted twelve years of hard, daily use. Cannot say enough about the look, features and operation of this one. Upgraded display and controls are great!. The thing my wife seems to love the most is that the exhaust fan automatically activates while she is cooking on the matching stove beneath it. Keeps the kitchen cooler and steam out of her eyes, I guess. Would also recommend to any DIY folks. The installation is fairly simple and we were done in less than an hour.

Hasnt worked properly since shortly after install
microwave stops heating after 4 minutes of usage and takes about another 5 - 10 mins to start heating again. Repair shop had my unit for a month "repairing" it only to bring it back doing the same thing. So i called whirlpool again only to be told that the unit can not vent out the top and can only be vented out the front for proper cooling of this model. So basically a unit that is designed to be able to vent externally is now being said to only be ventable out the front or it will over heat and shut down. So basically this product does not function as intended and whirlpool doesnt care. So now I have to buy yet another microwave in less than 10 months.

Searched for a replacement for my aged microwave
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My home’s built in Kenmore microwave broke down in March 2020. I looked for a Kenmore but alas nevermore. After diligently searching for something similar i ran across my new microwave made by Whirlpool. It appeared to be an almost duplicate of my original microwave. It was made by a very reputable manufacturer Whirlpool and i really like its appearance and styling. After installation I’ve grown to like it’s simple operation and solid feel in opening and closing its door. Solid not flimsy or cheaply made. I fully expect it to last for at least 15 years. It was selling at a great price and I’m glad I purchased it.

I have purchased two of these microwaves. The first one started having trouble heating within months. After two warranty calls in the first year, we found it workable. But, the entire machine died just after the two month mark. We wrote this off as a fluke, and after confirming many good reviews we purchased this exact product again. It ran smoothly for 13 months and 5 days until it made a horrible noise and started smoking today. Of course, it's only 35 days beyond it's warranty. Extremely poor Whirlpool product. I expect better from this brand but after two huge failures I strongly caution you against this model.

Cosmetic Issues Present
I have a very similar issue as Mike5545 posted several months ago. I also have a black microwave WMH31017HB which only has been wiped down gently with a microfiber towel and the lower part of door on right side by window is beginning to crack. I've had this unit just a few months when the issue arose. I was in the automotive industry for over 20 years. I have seen many things over the years to be able to say with confidence that this is a manufacturing issue. The microwave itself works great but there are certainly cosmetic issues which need to be addressed in order for me to recommend this product.

Basic no bells or whistles
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Basic features of a microwave, this microwave does not have all the convenient fast set buttons as did my old one. I enjoyed the convenient push of each button giving me instant time and instant on,(1=one minute, 2= two minutes etc.) This has a 30 second button, which goes on when you touch it, but not always, it will display "door" so you have to open and close door several times before it works. The work light is okay, but not great, 2 lights or a central position would have been better. This does not have an option to stop the turntable, so heating some
items can be a bit annoying. To do the basic heating or reheating, it does as needed

Huge improvement
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had it for a few weeks and it works great. The deck is lower than the previous microwave so it is easier to see the food. The light inside works well. Despite other reviews complaining about the beeping when it shuts off, it seems to be inline with what I expected. The keypad is simple and works well. Also saw complaints about how hard it was to push the buttons. Have not experienced this issue at all. The clock is a pleasant blue color that is easy to read. The black color is nice because it matches our other appliances, and cleans easily. This was a replacement microwave, and installation was easy. The old one had a more substantial mounting plate, but the one provided by Whirlpool worked fine. I would buy this microwave again.

I guess it is ok but no documentation
I bought this yesterday. Installation was easy but there didn't seem to be any documentation on how to use it. The owners manual talks about safety, wiring, warranty, some things not to do but nothing on how to use it. No instructions on how to set the clock (even though it wasn't difficult). If I wanted to know how to set a defrost cycle, no clue but I can pop popcorn with the touch of a button.. Seems maybe I bought a microwave that may or may not do the things I want. I guess I find out. I can't properly rate features or ease of use because I haven't been able to figure them out yet. It will be a guessing game.
