Has Sony created another hit? The A6300 is simply one of the best, well-rounded mirrorless cameras we’ve tested to date, so we would say, yes. Sony currently dominates the mirrorless camera market, and with continual product offerings like the A6300, it’s not hard to see why.

The Sony A6300 serves as the follow-up to one of the most popular cameras in recent years, the A6000. Given the predecessor's top marks, it's a tough act to follow. Sony's pulled it off, though, packing in so many new features and performance improvements.

  • +

Excellent image quality; Improved high-ISO performance; Better JPEG quality; Fast autofocus; Very good subject tracking with real-time live view feature; All-magnesium body construction; 4K video.

  • -

Slow buffer clearing (no UHS-II support); No touchscreen, Clunky menus; Wi-Fi can be a bit frustrating to use., Below average mean saturation which falls off dramatically at the highest ISOs, Only average hue accuracy with a noticeable yellow to green shift, Susceptible to aliasing artifacts due to...

Sony's A6300 is a mid-range mirrorless with an AF system that's the envy of pro cameras costing up to twice the price. It takes the earlier A6000 - no slouch for action photography - and upgrades the weather-sealing and viewfinder, adds 4k video, 1080 at 120p for slow motion and a microphone input,...

Sony's new premium compact system camera features a 24.2-million-pixel sensor, fast AF tracking as well as 4K video capture. We take a first look at the Sony Alpha 6300.

10 March 2016

In my judgment, the overall quality of the images and videos I was able to capture with the Sony Alpha A6300 surpass those I achieved with any previous APS-C-format camera. Indeed, this camera will give current full-frame professional DSLRs a run for the money.

Our bottom line for the Sony a6300 4K mirrorless interchangeable lens camera is that this is one superb, well priced shooter for almost any consumer or even prosumer needs. If you want high performance and especially high low light performance on a budget, we strongly recommend the a6300.

  • +

Excellent high resolution photos, Amazingly fast Auto Focus at 0.05 seconds, 425 phase detection points, 4K video with no pixel binning, Tough, rugged build, Great price

Difficult to manually set a focus point, clumsy main control button/dial layout

Though you might not be a fan of labeling yourself, it might be a good exercise when you need to decide between the new Sony a6300 and the older and cheaper a6000. If you consider yourself a really "serious" photographer who wants the absolute, best quality, the better low-light performance and...

Four weeks ago at CES 2016 , Sony unveiled a bevy of new products, including a 4K handycam ( AX53 ), a new portable wireless speaker ( h.ear go ) and their “most beautiful 4K HDR TV.” But despite the notability of those products, it appears Sony has saved its best for last.

I am mainly a road cycling and mountain biking filmmaker and photographer (some outdoor adventure/travel too) and I bought this camera for two reasons. The first was to have a lightweight companion camera to my c100 that could film slowmo and 4k if necessary. It's been absolutely amazing here.

I had an A5100 and it was stolen. Recently, I decided to upgrade to an A6300, this camera definitely packs a lot of punches. I am still learning many of those functions.

  • +

Light weight, compact, excellent picture quality, feature rich.

I've had the A6000 for almost 2 years and decided to get the A6300 after reading all of the reviews by various camera sites and those who purchased the new A6300. I have not had the A6300 long, but am finding it to be true to the many reviews I've read.

    None so far.

This camera is more than I will ever need. It can do things that I have only dreamed of doing with a camera. It's functionality is on par with any DSLR and the fact that you can use Canon AF DSLR lenses with it makes this the last camera I am likely to buy until the technology changes fundamentally.

I really think this was worth buying. It takes great pictures. I'm a model and photographer for a modeling agency, this does the job very well.

I have been quite pleased with my Sony NEX-6 camera, but decided to upgrade to the a6300 to get a better and higher-resolution sensor, faster and better autofocus, and higher-quality video capability. The a6300 has met my expectations on all counts.

Only just got it so I need to spend some time reading, talking, looking at UTube and doing a course. Good job I’m retired.

I had bought a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera thinking that it would serve all my needs. It did not. So I was selling it when someone asked if I'd be willing to trade it for a Sony A6300. I looked it up and BAM! Best decision I've made regarding cameras.

I purchased this camera to take 4K videos of my kids playing sports. I was hoping that the OSS lens stabilization was enough to smooth out my footage but even on a video monopod 4K at 30p wasn't"t as smooth as 1080 at 60p with in-body stabilization on my Sony RX10.
