Optically, this lens performs really well, but the ‘parking’ mechanism makes it complicated and fiddly and slightly cheap-feeling.
It's not as nice as the 14-40 2.8 that I own, but it cuts down on the size and bulk of the camera substantially. I find myself taking the camera with me far more and doing more spontaneous shooting.
Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight
Poor in Low Light
I use this as my sole lens on an oly omd 10. Collapses quite small, takes fine images. I'm no lens snob, so I can only tell you that it's sharper than the two Nikon DX lenses that I have.
Small! Sharp! Fuel efficient!
Need lady fingers to remove lens cap, get the auto cover. I don't care for the power zoom, wish I could override it somehow.
Pros: Compact, near pancake design. Attractive. Good build quality. Fairly Sharp. Good choice as a "kit" lens. Fairly Inexpensive. Cons: Not as sharp as some other lenses. Not very wide aperture, especially towards tele end. No manual zooming, power zoom only. Tiny, 37mm filter size.
Sharp, sharp, sharp with spectacular resolution, beautiful color and contrast. I keep this lens on my PEN E-P5 about 90 percent of the time. It's compact, lightweight and just an easy-peasy little lens to keep on the camera for candid, every day shooting.
