The compact mega-zoom Canon SX740 HS (24-960mm) offers a good balance of simplicity and ease of use, along with multiple exposure controls and an extremely versatile zoom lens that will help expand your picture-taking capabilities.
Image-stabilized 40x zoom, Pocket size, Auto and Manual exposure controls, 180-degree tilting LCD, 4K video
No viewfinder, No touch screen, Limited ISO/low-light performance, No Raw
The Canon PowerShot SX740 HS is a good Compact Digital Camera, showing that smartphones still have some way to go before completely replacing them.
Very compact, Great features, Easy pick-up-and-click, Great zoom detail
Smaller sensor (not ideal for low light), No Raw image format, No touchscreen
A fair price and super-flexible zoom range makes the SX740 one of the better compact cameras for holidays and days out.
40x optical zoom makes it versatile, Generally accurate autofocus, Good photo quality in daytime, Shoots 4K video at 30fps
Small sensor restricts low light performance, No option to shoot in Raw, Screen isn’t touch-sensitive
The Canon PowerShot SX740 HS falls firmly into the "modest upgrade" category of camera releases, principally adding just two new features to a design that hasn't really changed very much during the last few years.
The image stabilization the sound recording are good on this camera. The 4k is horrible. Its cropped in and if you're not in the sun the image quality is grainy muddy soft just horrible. Extremely disappointed. It's made well looks nice but it's just a waste.
Hard to beat this camera at this price point. Zoom is hands down the best at this price. Wireless image transfer is a nice feature, as well as the 4K video. My wife uses the camera mainly for wildlife pictures and she's happy with it
Zoom, 4K video, screen
Exposure has a completely different feel than older model
I shoot a 15K -5D set up. Needed something light to take on business tripWow quick and fast pretty good image qualityMy only draw back with this camera the AF is fairly slow and slow to change from shot to shot
I bought the Canon PowerShox SX740 a few weeks ago mainly for Vlog-related uses. The quality of picture and audio is amazing. The flip-up screen is very helpful. Highly recommend!
This camera seems to work well, so my complaints are minor. It's heavy, I would have liked more interesting colors, and the tilt LCD is a total waste (and adds weight).
I bought this camera to upgrade from my SX710HS. It is a definite improvement. I actually have this camera for it's zoom and carry a G7X MarkII as my primary camera. So with both I have good coverage from Macro to Long Distance.
