After around a year of using this lens I must say it is one of my favorites. Though it is a larger and heavier lens to hold, having the one stop faster aperture than the f/4 variants is completely worth it.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM is one of the better telephoto zooms in Canon's modern lineup. I would even say that this is one of the better telephoto zooms available in the EF mount.

Being priced at around £980, this older 70-200mm lens may lack stabilisation but does include weather sealing and fast, silent ultrasonic focusing at a much lower price, making it an interesting alternative for those on a tighter budget.

  • +

Good value, Excellent Build Quality, Very good sharpness in the centre of the frame, Fast focusing

  • -

Loss of sharpness towards the edges of the frame, Falloff of illumination towards the corners at 200mm

Love this lens, but didn't realize it was not weather resistant until it was too late. Took this out in a drizzle, destroyed my 5d ii body when the water got inside. Don't take this one out in the rain or dusty/sandy conditions.

I purchased this lens as my first L series lens . I was a little nervous with it not having ( IS) After using this lens I could clearly see that it was no issue not having (IS). I'm very happy as it has met all my expectations.

Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction

awesome lens. Great for portraits and landscape. The glass is far superior to Tamron's. Worth the extra money

On a full frame this makes a great portrait lens as well as a sports/nature/BIF lens, as 70mm I find to be the most useful in the studio. Keep in mind it is not an IS so keep it on a tripod below 1/500. Also, the IS version is weather sealed but this one is not...

  • +

Clarity, bokeh, fast lens, L glass, very little barrel distortion or chromatic aberration.

  • -

    NOT weather sealed.

Great lens. My monopod has three legs that open up for stability. The combination of the lens and monopod allows me the versatility required for close in wildlife shooting. It is a great substitute when wildlife is to close for my prime to frame.

Well I've waited over a year now to write something. I have used this zoom lens exclusively on my 6D and my comments specific to that. -just add one to what everyone else has already said here about the quality of images with this lens and it's heft.

It is a big upgrade than the non L lens. The images are sharp and clear. Since I use tripod so I do not notice the difference between this one and the IS unit. Will buy a 1.4X converter to try.

This is definatly the best lens for the money! This lens produces amazing, crisp pictures. I the quality is unserpassed, but then again that is what you get when you go with the "L" series.

The 70-200 2.8 is a beast of a lens, it's huge, but not huge for a telephoto of its class. It's heavy, but not heavy enough to strain your grip if you're relatively strong and are used to lifting around a lot of weight from time to time.

  • +

Prime quality throughout the total range, Relatively light considering range and aperture, Cheap considering the lens., LIGHTNING autofocus, Bokeh is the best - period., Can be used as a landscape lens within reason

  • -

Attracts attention (this is for you to determine as a weakness or strength based on your style, it works for me but some don't like the conspicous white lens pointed in their direction - especially the military, don't shoot anything military related with this lens it will get seized from you,...
