I am using the lens for more than 6 months on my Leica M6 now, so I am not a pixel counter. I just love it shooting it wide open. The colors and the bokeh are a dream. On film, the lens is super sharp. I also never had a problem with the shifting focus described in other reviews.

Got mine in October 2015 and it is extraordinary. It's a great addition to a leica 50mm elmar as the two lenses have distinct characters and uses. I have had no focussing issues using an M9. It focusses perfectly through all apertures but needs to be technically understood.

I tried a few lenses to go with my A7 ii. 55 Sony 1.8 mitakon 50 0.95 summilux 50, summicron 50 loxia 50 zm planar 50 and zm sonnar 50 What impressed me with sonnar, is the 3D separation, the classic bokeh, ease of focussing, lightweight, price compared with leica options and looks :-) Summilux also...

This lens is fantastic for what it is...a fast 50mm lens. The lens is of very high construction quality, I would argue as good as any Leica lens. It has a very solid feel, smooth focusing, and the aperture ring is right where it should be. The lens takes fantastic pictures on my M9.

Not as clinical looking results as my Leica 35mm lux. Exactly what I wanted. It to me, provides artistic nostalgic results not available anywhere else other than pre aspherical used lenses. Zeiss nailed it well done. The lens is sharp don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

This is my primary lens on my Sony NEX-6 using Hawk's Leica M to E helicoid adapter. On the NEX this is a 75mm and is great for taking portrait and waist-up shots. Pictures are clear wide-open, but I've found the sweet spots to be f/2, f/2.8, and f/4.

The lens has some unique features and overall it is really something I like having in the bag. The lens is small and light.. Big plus. The lens produces a very unique and favorable bokeh and is great in applications like portraits or still life.

It's perfect for what I use it for. Check out photos taken by this lens on flickr and you'll see what it's capable of. It takes time to get used to manual lenses and you have to be familiar with focus shift characteristics.

I'm quite happy with the purchase of this lens. Using on an M6. The lens reminds me of older lenses from the 50's and 60's. The lens is sharp and has wonderful bokeh. Unlike those older lenses there is no flare problem and contrast is increased from low+ for those old lenses to medium+ for this one.

I have multiple canon lens and recently got this zeiss for my new fujifilm x-t1. This is by far the best lens I ever had. A lot of people don't understand how important this lens and the artistic property it has until you try it.
