Using the Tokina 11-20 on the Nikon D500 and satisfied with the quality of ens and the build. LLittle soft wide open in the corers but mostly super sharp and excellent value.
This lens has a lot going for it and even though it isn't cheap the performance is very good for the price. It is in my opinion an excellent performer especially for the landscape photographer who is working with a DX sensor and I purchased it as a lens to satisfy the wide angle end of travel and...
This is my first experience with a ultra-wide lens and I am having lots of fun with it. The web has lots of guides on how to use an ultra-wide and I encourage you to look at them. The different perspective makes a lot of familiar places exciting to photograph again.
The Tokina 11-20mm f/2.8 lens is a beast! I use this lens primarily for automotive photography, and the range is perfect for that super wide angle shot. There is a little distortion when used at 11mm, but nothing that can't be corrected in post.
Bought this lens to get me wider shots and to use as an Astrophotography lens. Build is solid. It's very sturdy in the hand. Immediately notice the weight difference from my kit lens. Mounted, it just feels like you have quality gear. Images have been good, but where it shines is at night.
I am very pleased with this lens. I have found it to be extremely sharp, even in the corners. When I use it for night sky photography, the coma is very well controlled. Great addition to my lens arsenal.
Very sharp image. Extremely good quality. Tim
Incredible lens for the money and sharp thoughout. Perfect landscape lens.
When I first got this lens I had problems with focus. I read some reviews where people said there were focusing issues. I was unsure if it was me or the lens, so I set it up on tripod and did some manual & AF tests using a advertising poster with text of various sizes. It turns out it was me.
This may not be fair because picture quality was amazing and from that point of view it deserves 5 stars. But my copy had really bad back focus a lower zoom levels, and really bad front focus at higher zoom levels ( or maybe the reverse, I played with it so long I am getting confused).
