The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD lens covers a long zoom range and produces sharp results through most of the frame, but it isn't perfect.

  • +

Long telephoto reach. Optical stabilization. Strong center sharpness. Attractive price point. Zoom locking mechanism. Includes tripod collar and hood. Available for multiple systems.

  • -

Pincushion distortion throughout range. Focus can be a little slow. Some blurriness at edges unless stopped down.

I have to admit that I didn't expect to see the second generation of Tamron's first 150-600mm VC lens arriving this soon. And, I didn't expect the upgrade to be such a substantial one. While I can't say that image quality was dramatically improved, the form and function of this lens definitely were.

As compact and affordable as a lens in this class can be, the Tamron SP 150-600MM F/5-6.3 Di VC USD provides zoom capabilities that are perfect for any situation in which you have to shoot from a distance. Read more in our Full Conclusion .

From the lab test results, the Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD looks like a very convincing contender in its class. If we limit our comparisons to super-telephoto zooms which reach at least 400mm and weigh in around 2kg, it offers the longest maximum focal length without hugely compromising...

I’d say that the Tamron 150-600/5-6.3 is the best value you can get in a telephoto zoom. It is sharp throughout the focal length range with good contrast. It has no direct competitors, but even if it only had the 150-500mm range, I’d still say it would be a very strong contender for the best value...

If you aren't looking at the Sigma 150-600mm "C" in another tab right now, you probably should be: the lenses are very comparable, and are definitely competing for the same market. The Tamron is an exceptional lens for the price point, but its slow aperture range limits it to photography accompanied...

With some imagination, you have a lens that can be used for a variety of creative projects. The Tamron 150-600mm f5-6.3 is a reasonably priced lens that really delivers. It’s not a cheap doorstop telephoto lens. While it is f5-6.3, make no mistake: this lens is phenomenal.

Although significantly more expensive than the original model, like its predecessor, the second-generation Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 is superior to its predecessor in optical performance and has better stabilisation.

Before summarizing the performance metrics let me make a clear statement here. Tamron did something awesome with the Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD - they managed to produce this lens at a very moderate price tag of less than 1000 US$/EUR.

The 150-600mm f/5-6.3 zoom is the longest lens Tamron has ever built and at less than £1000 it offers exceptional reach at a very competitive price. While image quality is very good on the whole, it’s worth bearing in mind that it starts to drop slightly at the more extreme focal lengths.

I am an amateur photography, and love shooting wildlife, especially birds. I find that using a tripod is severely limiting in shooting wildlife and birds, especially birds in flight. Also, using a monopod has proven limited success for me.

Another impressive lens from Tamron, this is one of the lower priced options for wildlife photographers in need of a quality mega-tele zoom. It offers very good image quality wide open to about 500mm. At 600mm, f/9 to f/11 seems optimum for maximum resolution.

I use the Tamron 150-600 mm lens extensively for bird photography to document rarities and produce photos for programs. It is good for how it is structured and the price. Due to high minimum F Stop good light conditions are necessary for quality photos.

Affordable Price, All My Required Features, Quality Image, Relatively compact, Relatively light

    Lowest F Stop Is 56

Bought this lens for taking pictures of shore birds in Puerto Rico and love the results. Would have been nice to purchase a similar yet faster lens but would have had to spend 3 times the money. Fast focus and crisp pictures.

Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Great Price To Output, Nice Bokeh, Picture Quality To Price

I just made my first purchase from Ritz, a 150-600 Tamron Lens. It's a spectacular piece of equipment. It was competitively priced and was delivered in a matter of days. If you are thinking about making a purchase I say, "go ahead and do it."

Great with daylight exposure. Image quality at 600 is not as good as $9K brand name lens. Extending zoom lens barrel. Perfectly smooth manual focus Works perfectly with Nokon autofocus and autoexposure.

  • +

Long reach for Nature and Birding. Quite manageable and possible hand held (build your muscle). Best up to 400mm, acceptable IQ at 600mm. If you need 600mm, get it without breaking the bank. Image stabilization really works. Fast focus without hesitation. Sharp even at fully open aperture.

  • -

Plastic lens construction, so handle carefully. 95mm filter size. Not so fast lens, not F/4. No pouch or case included. Back ordered almost everywhere, even a year after the initial release.

I bought this lens primarily for aviation photography, but I plan to, also, use it for sports and wildlife. I haven't used it a whole lot yet, but ,so far, I am impressed! It is sharp and it focuses fast. I shoot with a SONY a99 so my lens does not have the image stabilization.

Just got the lens and I am very happy with it. It's great when mounted on a sturdy tripod because I can meter to the appropriate shutter speed to get the right amount light for a good exposure for stills. Action shots may be a bit more challenging to take with this lens.
