Performance-wise, this is a great little lens. Its compact size and relatively light weight made it a good match for both the Panasonic G95 and the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II camera bodies we used it on.
The Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN C is a very appealing mid telephoto prime lens, especially on the Sony E system where it has relatively few rivals.Offering a classic focal length of 84mm for APS-C compact system cameras and a slightly longer 112mm for Micro Four Thirds cameras, the third lens in Sigma's...
Sigma’s third f/1.4 prime lens for Sony E and Micro Four Thirds mounts has arrived. Michael Topham offers his verdict
Its sharp, contrasty, fast focusing, great color rendition, and an excellent focal length for portraits and subject isolation. It fills the gap nicely between the 42.5/45 and 75mm lenses from Panasonic and Olympus which often seem either too short or too long. Its the Goldilocks lens, just right.
Can't beat the picture quality on this lens. My only con is that it tends to hunt for focus a little in low light studio conditions. It's not a run and gun lens in studio or low light but I knew that before purchasing.
I owned the Canon 85mm 1.2 and 50mm 1.2 lenses in the past and always missed the magical results they produced when I switched over to Sony E mount. But they had issues of accurate auto focusing and even when manually focused would only work for stationary subjects.
The Sigma 56mm F1.4 is a great prime lens, light and compact with great sharpness and bokeh at F1.4. Ive used it on a Panasonic GX-9 body and an Olympus P-Fen body with great results for both cameras. The lens is well-balanced and the focus is fast and accurate.
Just had it out in the first field trip and the difference between an f 2,8 and an f 1,4 is just amazing. One can really get much more emphasis on the subject.Great enhancement to my lens collection. Build quality is also very solid.
Its honestly hard to think of any cons for this lens. I use it for both photography and video and I am still amazed by how sharp the images are. People would say that focusing is slower on these than on Sonys own lenses. But Ive honestly felt that it is fast enough for my needs.
This E-Mount Lens (APS-C Format) lens is such a wonder. Despite its light body, it is packed with features that make my life so much easier. This Sigma 56mm f/1.4 has a large aperture for better performance even in low light.
I bought the Sigma 56mm f1.4 to add to my increasing numbers of "M" series lenses, my first impression it is built like the proverbial brick you know what, very weighty compared to any of Canons "M" series lenses, I've run a few tests on my newly acquired M6 mkll and found it not at all lacking in...

Durable, Great Picture Quality
Bought the Sigma 56mm f1.4 about 3 weeks ago and I'm really so impressed with the image quality. Fast and precise focussing delivers superb clarity and has a lovely level of bokeh to ensure the subject stands out. Next on my list is the 16mm f1.4 to back it up in tighter spaces and for landscapes
