The Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN is, without doubt, one of the most attractive standard zooms available for APS-C mirrorless cameras. It provides a unique combination of impressive optical quality, large maximum aperture, compact size, and affordable price.

No optical stabilisation, Limited zoom range (both wide and tele)
The options have been sensibly and significantly increased by this new f/2.8 lens. Given that depth of field is greater on APS-C format it is a step towards being able to render backgrounds out of focus, a definite boon for portraiture in particular.

Excellent sharpness, Modest vignetting when stopped down, Maintains contrast shooting into the light, Low central CA, Fast, accurate and virtually silent AF, Dust and splash resistance, Light and compact, Fast f/2.8 aperture, Fair price, 3 Year guarantee

The Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 DC DN is the zoom many cropped mirrorless cameras have been waiting for: the range may be fairly standard, but the constant f2.8 aperture, potential for shallow depth-of-field results, and corner sharpness are all a step-up over basic kit zooms, and crucially it won’t break...
Thanks to Sigma Canada (Gentec) for sending me a pre-release loaner copy of this lens. As always, this is a completely independent review. The opinions here are completely my own.
The close focus abilities will help it to be a good lens to mount on a gimbal or slider for video work, as on the wide end you essentially can’t exceed the focus limit. The wider maximum aperture gives you more creative options for depth of field than kit lenses or something like the Sony E 18-135mm...

I was looking for a good quality lens for street photography. This fits the bill and at 18-50 f2.8 throughout the range and is a bonus for low light. The lens is very light at only 203 grams. It is made from polycarbonate and will last a lot longer that me.
The team at Salisbury are both knowledgeable and truly outstanding in their helpfulness, great people to do business with.
This is a terrific little lens, that’s ideal for street and indoor (low light) photography. It’s very sharp, fast focusing and renders colours beautifully. It’s a joy to use. I’d give it 5 stars if it were fully weather resistant. That said, I’ve use it in wet weather without issue.
Videography
For photo and video it's exactly what you would want for this price. Good quality image not perfect but easily as good as lenses costing more. The size and eight makes it extremely convenient as well the perfect travel lens for Sony APS-C
I landed to production gigs that I will be shooting this spring.
