Without a doubt, the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 Art is one of the best ultra-wide angle lenses made to date. Thanks to its superb optical formula comprising of a whopping 16 elements, many of which are there to correct optical aberrations and increase sharpness, the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 Art yields exceptionally...
The Sigma 14mm F1.8 DG HSM Art is an ultra-wide prime lens with an extremely bright aperture and crisp optics.
Ultra-wide field of view. Very bright aperture. Very sharp. Solid build. Dust and splash protection. Available for multiple camera systems.
Some barrel distortion. Soft edges and corners at wide apertures. Dim corners. Doesn't support front filters.
The Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM ART is an impressive lens both physically as well as regarding its creative potential. However, its extreme credentials don't come for free. Yes, it offers an insane max. aperture at this focal length but at least technically you won't find greatness at f/1.8.
Sigma’s Art line-up has fast become one of the most highly regarded lens ranges on the planet. That’s why we’re excited to see the world’s first 14mm f/1.8 prime, with an ultra wide-angle and fast aperture which could make it every astrophotographer’s dream.
Goodness the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art lens is good. Really, really good, thanks in no small part to its unrivalled f/1.8 aperture. It’s ruddy heavy, but the extra bulk comes with the payoff of increased light intake which in turn creates vibrant and sharp images.
It arrived prior to my leaving for an expedition to Antarctic so I took it along and it proved to be an excellent way to shoot massive icebergs at water level up close from a zodiac.
Attached is the first image out of the box with this lens. This is a great lens for shooting anything in low light and you know with ultra wide lenses you have to work the location a little to find the best angle/s as the parallax comes with the territory...
This has been excellent for astrophotography. F1.8 is great and reveals many more stars that I am able to see by eye. It's a bit heavy, but feels solid and well built. I take it everywhere now.
Tried this lens for an interiors/architecture shoot w/ the Canon 5D IV. The distortion is severe and completely unacceptable. This is really just a glorified fisheye. Maybe it's great for shooting stars at night or something like other people say. But NOT a good lens for architecture/interiors.
Well done again Sigma. This new Sigma 14mm lens is just wonderful in many ways. First class build quality as well as optical preference. I have always been a prime lens person. Sigma has changed all of my perceptions of after market lenses. I’m now a Sigma ART lens photographer.
This is not a 14 mm lens. After testing it compared with other 14 mm lenses from other brands and three different 16 mm and one 17 mm lens, I would say that the focal length of the Sigma is around 15.5 mm. So, if you are looking for a 14 mm prime, you should look elsewhere.
I love this lens. It's soaks up crazy amounts of light. So I can shoot crisp at 1.8 for half the time at half the iso than on my 2.8 lenses. It's amazing.
Great lens. Super sharp. Have used for landscape and astrophotography. Can’t say enough great things.
14mm and 1.8 aperture is a great compilation ,sharpness is great but i still believe the Nikon lens 14mm is sharper
Just received the new 14mm ART lens. first and foremost SIGMA'S is just hitting home run after home run with all of there new lenses. Last month we received the new 24-70 ART. Perfect focus (dead) on focus, out of the box. Now the 14 mm also dead on again. We have been Nikon lens people for ever.
