I can think of any number of practical applications for the Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 super wideangle zoom, from indoor real estate photography, to world travel, to close groups and weddings; but the creative possibilities are even more intriguing.
The 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM Art is a surprising, but very welcome, addition to Sigma's ever growing Art range of premium lenses, offering a faster aperture of f/2.8 at the expense of 2mm in focal length when compared to the very similar Sigma 12-24mm F4 DG HSM Art lens, whilst being cheaper than it's...
Let me say this outright: as a Canon user I have been envying Nikon users for their superb 14-24 F2.8 for a decade! So when this Sigma 14-24 F2.8 Art lens was announced, I didn't hesitate for a second to get it.
I have had wide-angle lenses in the past that I never really liked enough to use with any frequency. This one is different. It balances well on a full frame Nikon, and it shows good sharpness at all focal lengths.
Haven't testes it too much, but I love it! Excellent build quality
Great wide angle lens. Very sharp and almost no distortion. One of the best Sigmas lenses. Its heavy but no problem with that. I love it.
I purchased this lens for landscape photography with a D810 and have now used it a couple of times in the field. Photographing the canopy of a tree from underneath and examining the small branches, the lens is very sharp into the corners at both 14 and 24 mm.
This lens is sharp and the autofocus works very well on my canon 5d mk IV. I love doing landscapes with this guy. It blew away my canon 16-35 f/2.8 L II. The weather sealing seems to work well, I used it a ton in Hong Kong when there was a lot of moisture in the air.
I bought this lens after using the Canon 14mm 2.8 which was amazing. I love all my sigma lenses but this one has the worst distortion, borderline fisheye. Maybe this is great for landscape stuff but I was using it for dramatic wedding images and it's just terrible for that.
Used with my Canon 5dmk4. Fast focusing and brilliantly sharp. Excellent construction.
There has been much to do about the quality of the Nikon 14-24 f/2.8 lens. I have never used the Nikon so I do not know if this lens is as good. However, I can say I am very happy with the results and I am skeptical that the Nikon would be worth the price difference.
For a long time look for an ultra wide-angle comparable to the Canon L series but accessible. This Sigma Art exceeds my expectations, is very well built, solid, precise and soft focus. Its rings (zoom and focus) feel good to the touch. Without perceptible aberration or dispersion.
