Sigma has beaten the competition in being the first third-party lens maker to offer a native, mirrorless-optimized full-frame super-telephoto zoom for Sony's E-mount, and at just $950 it is a very attractive alternative to its name-brand competitor.

Impressive image quality, High-quality build, Fast, reliable autofocus, Portable size (for the zoom range), Incredible overall value

Typical of Sigma’s ‘Contemporary’ line of lenses, the 100-400mm DG DN OS aims for good performance in a compact and lightweight package, at a competitive asking price. It comes up trumps for image quality, delivering excellent sharpness and contrast, while keeping colour fringing, distortions,...

Powerful telephoto zoom range, Relatively compact and lightweight, Good handling and overall performance

Fairly narrow aperture rating at long zoom settings, USB Dock and teleconverters unavailable for Sony mount version, Pricier than the older edition for Canon and Nikon DSLRs
It's no secret that Sigma lenes don't perform as fast at AF on Panasonic cameras as Panasonics own leses. However I promise that with a littler patience and tinkering you will be capturing some stunning wildlife photos.

Bit of a learning curve, Not the fastest optics or AF
Bought this lens to use with the Panasonic S5 after downsizing from a Nikon D500 and 200-500 f5.6 lens Due to disabilities the weight saving is a massive difference for me. I have owned this lens in Nikon mount previously and new what to expect although this is a new designed lens for mirror less...
I photograph birds and then make drawings from the birds. I was using a 24 to 200 on my A7III but wasn't getting the shots I wanted. I tried the Sony 100 to 600 G but that is a seriously bulky lens for my old arthritic hands!

Light and Very good sharpness
I bought this e fit lens after using my old Canon fit 100-400 with a Sigma adapter which I was very happy with. So far the new lens is still good, but I'm not yet sure if it beats the old one?

A fantastic and light weight telephoto lens with sharp opitics, great stabilisation and room for a tripod mount. Plus both the Sigma 1.4x and 2x teleconverters work with the lens while retaining full auto focus features.
