I wrote up a review of the AVX system a few weeks ago. At the time I really liked it and I still do. Great system, simple to operate, great signal. However there is one important thing I think a potential buyer should be aware of.
The equipment is just right and what we needed. What I really appreciate is the polite service you gave to help me get what I needed without knowing exactly what it was! Thank you for your help and service and well as the equipment.
excellent productbatteries greati used shure and others but this is the best..
We are a longtime Sennhieser shop and also have used the AudioTechnica System 10. We have a pair of AVX lavs and have used them on both Sony FS5 and Ursa Mini Pro cameras. After 4 months here is our thoughts:The range on these is sometimes problematic.
I love Sennheiser products, and have owned several. So perhaps this is why it is such a letdown. 3 reasons:1: Main reason: There is an 8 frame delay on my unit, probably as it is digital. So if you mix this with an analogue unit, you get a horrific echo effect.
Aside from the cheap clip that broke on first use, I have found it's auto EQ to be a nuisance in multiple person interviews.
I'm using a Nikon D5500 (including the stock preamp) and the mic reproduces male and female speaking voice exceptionally well. Additionally, the camera mount wireless set works perfectly and is incredibly convenient!
Been using a G3 for a few years, I love the AVX now. Simple to use. The receiver is small and attaches a lot easier than the G3. Eliminated the long antennas of the G3 as well. Make sure to buy an extra set of rechargeable batteries if you have long shoots.
I bought my AVX system MKE2 lav to getlightweight, easy to use one man crew works. Its a joy to use. Mainly to shoot webminars and corporate video and till now never failed.Just a advice, get additional BA 20 Energy Pack to EKP receiver, isnt able to shoot an all day long interviews shooting plan.
This is not a toy... it produces results that will be hard to distinguish from a Lectrasonics if you're plugged to a great pre/recorder. The dynamic range of the unit is a bit narrow as one would expect from an automatic gain system such as this. Its very sophisticated.
