If all you want is 1GB of CF storage, then you don’t really need to consider the Extreme card. On the other hand, if you demand the best (including awesome performance in cameras, top of the line speed in your reader, and great extras), then you’d be remiss not to take a closer look at the Extreme...
Im a Pro Videographer/Photographer, and I am BIG into having redundancy built into my workflow, as after shooting 1000's of events, and other things, your main system WILL fail at some point Fact of this technology.
I wanted a memory card that would allow me to take rapid-fire photos with no lag for the image to get to the card, and this card did that. I also wanted a card with lots of memory so I would not have to change cards during a shoot and this card allows that.
I needed extra CF cards for an upcoming extended trip. While I was tempted to go with a single bigger capacity card to supplement my existing one, a pair of these was a better buy, and has the added advantage that, if one dies I have another to use.
I think if I do any longer time lapses I will have to get a 32 or 64, should have probably just bought one of those in the first place, but my 4GB cards need to be upgraded.

I have been using Sandisk since I started doing photography, and going from baddie amateur to semi-pro this thing rocks. Bought it to go in my Canon 1Ds MarkII to start a time lapse photo project, and shooting on raw stores up to 850 photos on this bad boy, so it will be great for a couple hour...

wasn't free and it's not bigger
I have 2 of these exact cards. Both have failed at critical times in a shoot more than. Once in the middle of a paid product shoot, once during an action sequence at a sports shoot. There is nothing worse than having a card failure when you need it the most.
I'm a professional photographer and value the speed and reliability of memory cards. Images are written quickly, never lose time waiting to take my next shot. I've purchased this product many many times and never have an issue. Plus, can't beat the price.
SanDisk did it again with this card, it's fast & reliable!
Fast, reliable and now a great price. Perfect for day to day shoots, and without any lag writing to the card if shooting in bursts.
Works perfect in the canon 5d.
