After extensive research and willingness to replace the less sensitive RODE NTG2 shotgun mic, I decided to go with this mic. I bought it for the express purposes of using it with making short films and web series. I've done a few tests and love using this mic.
I have nothing bad to say about this mic - the quality is amazing and is perfect for any video/film professional. My favorite part is that it has a pretty hot output so you don't have to have another preamp going into your recorder.
Purchased this mic and two days later did a series of interviews at an incredibly noisy expo conference. Used a 9 foot boom pole picked up from BNH also, Ved directly into the Sony FS7 camera.
This is a wow mic for the money. As good if not better than than Sennheiser it knocked off. Huge Value. Great warranty! Really cool metal protect tube/case for traveling. As all Booms - keep it close to the subject, manage your sound and use those HP filters.
We got this microphone almost a year ago for a run and gun documentary team. We use it on the shotgun mount of a Canon C100 MKII and sometimes on a boom for interview audio. Granted, I'm a shooter and an editor more than an audio guy, but in my opinion this microphone has performed as well as any...
So lightweitghted. Love the water resitant case.
Hello. I just received this microphone and tested it against my old Sure Shotgun mic that I've been using for 10 years. MUCH better. No tin sound on the high end. Lovely lows. Yup. Worth the upgrade for sure.
I am getting ready for my first serious short film and need superb audio.
I was frankly blown away by the rich tonal quality of this microphone for my production purposes. I've watched a lot of review videos and read some reviews elsewhere and I am impressed by the quality of this microphone that costs less than the industry standard Sennheiser MKH416.
This mic is phenomenal! I've been using it for indoor interviews and outdoor b-roll shots. It gives me a perfect consistent quality recording with low to minimal background noise. I would recommend spending the money to get this mic if you are doing video professionally.
