Street shooting and casual photography, or travel photography where a small and light camera, with a medium-wide lens is very useful.

Any work that requires long shooting sessions, long focal lengths, or low light shooting, where the GR III's autofocus system can struggle.

The smartphone may have replaced a dedicated camera for many, but the Ricoh GR III is here to remind us that’s not universally the case. The latest in Ricoh’s series of super-pocketable street shooters, it packs the highest resolution sensor yet – and, at $899, the highest price tag too.

“The Ricoh GR III will make you rethink whether a smartphone camera is ‘good enough.’”

GR fans, or GRists as Ricoh call them, will love this update of an iconic camera. But in the world of multi-lens camera phones the wider appeal of this fixed lens compact will probably be limited.

With smartphones getting better in taking snapshots of your family gatherings and travels, it is tough to look at compact cameras as an alternative. Not when you have to bring one more piece of equipment for a trip.

It's just a masterpiece. I usually use Caonon 5dsr in Studio and sometimes Leica m10 & Leica vario in the street, but now I use 70% of my time this awesome little camera.

The Ricoh GR III was my first camera. I mostly wanted something for landscape, macro and architecture, so a wide-angle lens was important to me. At the time I bought it, I wasn't sure if photography would be my thing.

Absence de flash intégré
Hello I had the Ricoh GRIII since May and this I want I think so far: What I like very much: This camera works better for street photography than anything I have tried before. It draws almost no attention. It is so small, easy to use and discrete.
-
+
The ability to store three different range of camera settings
-
+
High contrast Black and White mode.
-
+
Snap focus, pocketable.

Obviously the compact size cannot be overstated, this tiny camera is probably the best travel companion you could wish for (when restrictions are lifted) the wide 28mm lens captures everything you want and huge sensor allows for very harsh cropping and still producing useable images.
Surprised to see there is no user review of GR III here, so I decided to write one. If you used and liked a GR II before, go ahead and buy one, you're gonna love this camera (but make sure that you also buy an extra battery).
