The Pentax HD DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited is an impressively sharp wide-angle lens with minimal distortion.

Compact. Built-in hood. Impressively sharp. Minimal distortion. Quick-shift focus system. Excellent build quality. Fairly even illumination.

Disappointing edge performance at f/4. Some chromatic aberration. Screw-in lens cap. Not weather sealed.
The summary of this lens’s test can be written in several different ways. Certainly you can praise the unquestionable advantages – good workmanship, compact dimensions, and a really sensational image quality in the frame centre.

Very solid and well-done casing,, Sensational image quality in the frame centre,, Moderate chromatic aberration,, Low distortion for such an angle of view,, Negligible astigmatism,, Very fast and efficient autofocus.

Weak image quality on the edge of the frame,, Distinct coma.
The SMC-DA 15mm f/4 AL ED Limited is a another desirable pancake lens by Pentax. The lens is capable of producing very sharp and contrasty images at medium aperture settings. At large apertures the border quality is somewhat softer so it may not be the first choice for available light photography...
I've had this lens for about five weeks and I am very glad that I bought it. Here are a few reasons why I say that:1) The lens appears to be very well constructed. It has a solid feel to it.2) I love the color and contrast that I see in photos taken with this lens.
Exactly what we were looking for to shoot real estate interiors. Prime quality and room wide but not too wide so as to distort the image. We shoot executive groups with from 15=30 people in the shot- sometimes indoors and sometimes outdoors.
I was studying up on old fashioned prime lenses when I chanced upon this lens, which is unavailable in Australia. The wide angle, the depth of field scale and the 18cm close focus meant it would be ideal for model train photography.
Just got back from Antarctica and really impressed with the quality of the pictures. The glass and quality has far surpassed my expectations. If you're thinking of buying this lens, stop debating and make the purchase!
Love the build quality of this metal super wide angle (about 22.5mm focal length in Full Frame terms) lens. Was debating between buying this lens and the 10-24mm Wide Angle zoom. I'm glad I went with this smaller, lighter weight option.
I am in the midst of changing from zoom lenses to a series of primes. The primes give better image quality and as importantly they make me consider the shot before I click the shutter.I had the Pentax 12-24 and while a great lens it is also huge, and made me a lazy photographer.
This lens just oozes quality build. It focuses quickly and quietly and the images with it are very clean and sharp. Its focal length makes it is ideal for indoor use as well as for wide scenery shots.
