Olympus M. Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8 This medium telephoto optic for Micro Four Thirds compatible cameras sports a fast maximum aperture of f/1.8, internal silent focusing and a low price of around £250.
The Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 45mm f/1.8 is a highly desirable lens. The important center resolution is already on a very good level straight from wide open aperture and only the corners are somewhat softer here. The quality is very high across the image field when stopping down to f/4.
The low price may be a little misleading at first glance, as this lens is a very capable optic. It focuses quickly on the E-PM1 body used for testing and is capable of producing outstanding levels of sharpness. The light weight and good build quality are also assets.
Very good value, Excellent sharpness, Compact & lightweight, Good build quality
Lens hood is an optional extra
The summary of our tests rarely can be so unambiguous. I really can’t imagine a situation when a Micro 4/3 body owner doesn’t have this lens as well. If you haven’t bought it yet, do make up for this complete mistake as soon as possible.
small, very handy housing,, sensational image quality in the frame centre,, excellent image quality on the edge of the frame, including the maximum relative aperture,, very low chromatic aberration,, low distortion,, slight astigmatism,, well-corrected vignetting,, efficient and accurate autofocus.
pity the lens is not made entirely of metal.
This is not one of Olympus's top flight lenses, and is reflected in the plastic barrel and lack of a manual focus clutch ring, but its optical performance is remarkable for the money.
I bought this mainly as a portrait lens - which the 45mm f/1.8 delivers marvelously; good colors, natural skin-tones and narrow depth of field that gives superb separation between subject and background.
I took a chance with this International Version. And it works perfectly. There is a quality feel to this lense. It is very sharp. It has fast auto focus, is small and light weight, good in low light. And it renders beautiful bokeh. It has become my favorite lense.
The lens is sharp light and very capable. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an economical lens that is capable of producing quality images. The lens rarely leaves my camera bag and even though I might have more expensive lenses I still keep going back to this little winner.
This lens paired with a micro four thirds camera provides outstanding value for the image quality you're getting!
Excellent image quality, fast autofocus, sharp, good for low light, great quality/price ratio
Not metal, not good for macro
Good 4/3 light weight and small prime medium tele lens with good wide max aperture for bokeh and portraiture. Pictures are crisp and sharp with good colour and contrast.
This lens is incredible! Sharp and fast focusing! IQ is fantastic! Is on my camera 90% of the time now! My new favorite lens!
My lens came in super condition, works brilliantly! Great for shooting all my blog photos with.
This Olympus lens is a bright lens and photos with nice bokeh are easily achievable. The lens is compact and light.
1.8 aperture enables beautiful bokeh, it's incredibly sharp, light and fast. With none of the camera shake of heavier bodies and lenses I've taken pin sharp images handheld at 1/60.
I purchased this as an interview lens to compliment my f1.7 20mm. It was a great choice for setups where I need a closeup but need to keep the camera back.
