There's a lot to like about the Olympus 75mm Æ’/1.8 M.Zuiko; simply amazing results for sharpness, great resistance to chromatic aberration, very low corner shading and near-zero distortion. Add in excellent build quality and good looks, and you have a package that's sure to please any photographer.
Handling and features This premium compact telephoto lens sports a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture and is compatible with all Micro Four Thirds cameras. The lens provides a field of view equivalent to a 150mm lens used on a 35mm camera, and the bright f/1.8 maximum aperture allows your subject to be...
This premium portrait prime is a pleasure to use.
The Olympus M.Zuiko 75mm f/1.8 ED is, by quite a margin, the best micro-four-thirds lens that we have tested to date. It is ultra-sharp straight from f/1.8 and in fact, it is basically diffraction-limited so stopping down doesn't really improve the image quality anymore.
Micro Four Thirds system camera owners who are already looking at this lens probably don't need any more convincing of it's worth, but those who hadn't yet considered it may be interested to see just how well this optic performs.
Incredible optical performance for the price, Very good build quality, Lightweight, Compact
Not weather sealed, No hood supplied as standard
I do not hesitate to write it: testing such lenses is pure pleasure which starts when you take the lens out of its box and you look at it for the first time. You already know you deal with a very solid instrument.
compact metal casing, with very good build quality,, sensational image quality in the frame centre,, very good image quality on the edge of the frame,, brilliantly corrected chromatic aberration,, low spherical aberration,, slight distortion,, well corrected coma,, moderate vignetting,, fast and...
very modest standard accessory kit,, work against bright light could have been better.
The M. Zuiko Digital ED 75mm f/1.8 lens has produced the best set of test results of any lens we have tested in the last decade. Couple that with superior build quality, compact size and ease of use with the E-M5 (and other) camera bodies and it's difficult not to be impressed.
The new fast optic from Olympus features an all-metal design and an equivalent focal length of 150mm - but how does it perform? Designed particularly with shooting portraits in mind, Olympus also says that the lens is ideal for shooting high-speed indoor sports.
Short intro, the review not about me ! It's about this wonderful lens ! If your a short/medium telephoto shooter, you must get this lens, my first impression are the built quality, the feel, and performance!
I hesitated between the Panasonic 35-100 f2.8 and this lens to improve IQ in that tele range over the kit lenses. I ended up choosing this lens because it sets itself more apart than the 35-100 zoom. And I don't regret it. It is simply a pleasure to work with such a quality glass.
Image quality is awesome
No weather sealing
WoW this lens looks so good on my Pen F and the images are simply amazing. Best buy on a lens ever. For me this almost exclusively is a portrait lens and it kind of mimics the old 135mm lenses from back in the 35mm camera days.
This lens is an absolute beast. The bokeh is buttery smooth, the colors pop, and f1.8 aperture makes it easy to shoot in all conditions. Only thing to keep in mind is the shortest focal distance is a little long - would be nice to use this lens to photograph just the eyes but alas that is too close.
You want an awesome portrait lens? Look no further! This glass is it! It has a nice heft and the pictures come out great!
A wonderful lens. Together with the Nocticron by far the best m43 prime. Better than the 25 f1.2. Cannot be replaced by, for example, a 40-150 f2.8 Pro, as the Bokeh is lightyears better. If you have the money, buy it. You will never regret.
Optically close to perfection. Beautiful colors. Just perfect, not over-saturated. Relatively small and unobtrousive. Ideal for stealth portraits. Wonderful mild and smooth bokeh, One of the best I have ever seen.
AF could be faster. Focal length in some situations a tad too long (not the fault of the lens). Lens hood not included and sold by Olympus for an obscene price. I bought the generic hood from JJC for half of the price. Perfect match.
This lens is honestly amazing, game changer.
I've taken the best photos in the last 5 years in the last two weeks I've had this lens. Sharp edge to edge wide open this thing is awesome. Perfect portrait lens if you have enough room. Built like a tank this thing is solid. Buy it or buy the kit with the 45mm.
It's sharp, but very prone to flare. Impossible to focus on a backlit subject. Photos with light sources included suffer badly from flare. Not recommended.
I'll definitely get a lot of use out of this item. Thanks again for coming up with another great product! quality product Thanks for a good product. better than you would think Works perfectly.
