Olympus keeps hitting them out of the park! Whether you’re talking about their super fast cameras like the OM-D E-M5 or their optically superior lineup of lenses like the 17mm f/1.8 , Olympus can’t seem to stray too far from our office conversations.
Great image quality, Solid construction, Little to no distortion and aberration
Cost, Can be heavy when used on smaller MFT cameras
For those who shoot with the micro 4/3 system and want a high quality, fast, prime lens, the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm f1.8 , ( compare prices ) ( review ) fits the bill. I doubt you’ll find a technically better lens than this one and if 75mm is your focal length of choice, you’re in luck!
Handling and features This premium compact telephoto lens sports a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture and is compatible with all Micro Four Thirds cameras. The lens provides a field of view equivalent to a 150mm lens used on a 35mm camera, and the bright f/1.8 maximum aperture allows your subject to be...
Olympus has unveiled an interesting new portrait lens: the M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm Micro Four Thirds. Micro Four Thirds format cameras have been steadily gaining traction for a while now and anyone who has had to lug around a heavy DSLR and a bunch of lenses for any length of time will have a good...
This is an incredibly sharp, fast, well built lens that produces great color and contrast. The only down-side to this lens is that if you want a lens hood you have to purchase one separately. I also had to buy a separate hood for my 45mm.
Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
No lens hood
The lens is sharp, focuses quickly, and is quiet. However, it could easily be engineered with a built-in, slide-out hood. Not only is there not such a hood on the lens, but the dedicated hood that Olympus makes must be purchased separately. This is ridiculous for a professional-quality lens.
Fast, Quiet, Sharp
This lens is an absolute beast. The bokeh is buttery smooth, the colors pop, and f1.8 aperture makes it easy to shoot in all conditions. Only thing to keep in mind is the shortest focal distance is a little long - would be nice to use this lens to photograph just the eyes but alas that is too close.
I love this lens so much it's actually the second one I've purchased. Having previously owned an EM1 with a Panasonic 25mm f1.4 and this lens, I started getting anxious about making my camera kit smaller and sold everything for a used X100s.
