Coupled with fast primes this TC really shines. Outstanding IQ/AF speedwith my 200 f2/300 f2.8 VR's This little addition has actually saved me thousandsof dollars not having to purchase a 500...love when that happens!
One of the true perks of shootin' Nikon.
I recently found out about an opportunity to photograph military jets in flight, but my 70-200mm f/2.8 lens wouldn't be adequate. It was suggested I use a teleconverter. So I bought this one, and I have not been disappointed.
I've been using a TC-14E III to get additional reach with my 300mm f/4 PF for a couple years. With airshow season quickly approaching, I decided to give the TC-17E II a shot. There is a noticeable change in focus speed and higher frequency of hunting on my D500 when shooting wildlife.
I only tried this teleconverter on my 70-200 VR, so all the comments are about this combination. My feelings are a bit mixed about this TC. I'm not happy with the wide open or near wide open performance, but stopping the lens down will eliminate most of the problems and it brings out the magic from...
jack of all trades, master of none
Great images with this teleconverter. Just got back from a safari trip to Tanzania where I used this along with my 70-200 Nikon lens. It did a great job of bringing the animals in really close and with no noticeable drop in quality . Highly recommended.
I got this converter mainly for use with my Nikon AF-S DX 70-200mm 2.8 FL ED VR zoom...for people shots and wildlife. Ive only done a few simple resolution tests with it . I had to make some minor AutoFocus Fine Tune adjustments, in camera, with my Nikon 7100.
I use this Teleconverter it mainly on my AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/4 PF ED VR and no noticeable drop of image quality. VR working very well. AF works fine, maybe a tiny bit slower. Compact light and fast. SJ
Like All things Nikon over priced buy 1/3. Also the teleconverter only fits certain Lenses. Google Nikon Lense Hack for other lenses
When coupled with the AF-S Nikkor 300mm f4E PF ED VR lens on the Nikon D500, the lens is equivalent to a 765mm f7 or so lens. Sharpness is very good across the frame and focus is relative fast in decent light.
Have used this teleconverter extensively with my Nikon 300mm f/2.8 and my Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8, with no issues in very rugged conditions. It is my go to teleconverter for my 300mm lens when my 600mm is not with me. Never been disappointed.
I was looking for a way to increase my reach for aviation photography. As an owner of the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8, I was concerned about the degradation in image quality (IQ) as a result of additional layers of glass.
