The fourth generation of the Surface Laptop is really only a CPU upgrade with Intel Tiger Lake chips and the special AMD Ryzen processor. The latter is still based on the older 4000 series and already appears slightly outdated at the laptop's introduction.
-
+
very high system performance, extremely high multi-core performance, good 3:2 display, robust and light case, accurate colors, full sRGB coverage, often silent in everyday operation, improved battery life, good speakers
-
-
aging and few connections, no LTE, impractical Surface-Connect port, bad webcam, only one-year warranty, high price, slow response times, hardly any maintenance options

A new AMD Ryzen 7 processor brings significant performance improvements to the 15-inch Microsoft Surface Laptop 4, making it an excellent choice for general-purpose computing on a big screen.

Lightweight and stylish, Sunny, razor-sharp screen with 3:2 aspect ratio, Comfortable touchpad, Excellent performance from AMD Ryzen 7, Intel Core i7 models available, too

Few configuration options, Can't get a version with a discrete GPU, Only two USB ports

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 with a custom AMD Ryzen chip is powerful with long battery life, though it needs a faster SSD. Slow SSD speeds, Meager port selection

In look and feel, very little has changed from the last generation. Sure, there are differences here and there: the Laptop 4 is ever-so-slightly thinner, and there’s a new “Ice Blue” color option. But you get the same 3:2 touchscreen, the same port selection, and the same design.
-
+
Big performance gains, Excellent battery life, 3:2 display, Super light
-
-
Not many ports, Keyboard’s a bit flat, No Thunderbolt support (even on Intel models)

The Surface Laptop 4 is a great laptop and a solid option for anyone wanting a high-end, premium experience.

Significant performance improvements for AMD variants, Decent battery life, 3:2 aspect ratio is king

Performance tuning needed to get the most from your laptop, Same limited ports, Pricier than comparable options

In late 2019, when Microsoft launched the Surface Laptop 3 – their first AMD-powered Surface laptop – it was an important moment for both AMD and Microsoft's Surface group. AMD finally had a premium design win, and what better manufacturer did they have to work with than Microsoft themselves.

Microsoft has recently launched the Surface Laptop 4 , which is their latest in their lineup of premium ultraportable laptops. It comes in two sizes, a 13.5-inch and a 15-inch version. Both are available with either 4th generation AMD Ryzen CPUs or 11th generation Intel Core CPUs.

The Surface Laptop 4 may look familiar, but it's a major upgrade over the last model..

The Windows thin-and-light market has been getting more and more saturated with new releases all the time. You can get a sleek, ultra-portable laptop for work at almost any price range these days, be it for budget-conscious students or boardroom members wanting the best.
It looks and feels great, but the battery life on the Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 is far, far worse than the advertised 17-19 hours - I'm talking about half of what is advertised, on a very good day, with minimal use, working away in the dark so that the screen brightness doesn't drain too much...
Great laptop but constantly having trouble to start the computer once it has gone to "sleep"
Fast, easy and sleek. Easy to connect to multiple monitors and remotely to tv
After a long wait, going through many reviews and being my usual indecisive self, I bit the bullet and ordered the new Surface Laptop 4. I have been using the new Surface Laptop 4 for over 2 weeks now. First impressions: looks great, light, portable, simple, love the keyboard and feel of typing.
Only had it for a couple of weeks but it's working well and love the feel of the keyboard and the big, clear, square screen when working from home
Very nice machine - fast, excellent display and I like the touchscreen.
My team and I have used various Surface devices over the past few years and each new model is a step up from the previous one. The laptop is a great device for those who need lightness and mobility combined with a powerful machine. It works well and looks good but most of all it's just easy to use.
A Smooth machine. It is shy on ports - it has USB 3, USB C and a headphone jack and of course the charging port. It is worth the price.
Seems like a good performance type laptop with fast booting
good size, good screen clarity, good keyboard, easy to transport
