The AMD model of the Surface Laptop 4 13.5 is an interesting alternative to the Intel SKU and there are some advantages: The device is more affordable, the battery runtime is better, and the multi-core performance is superior to the most expensive Intel option, even on the entry-level Ryzen 5.

+
sturdy and high-quality metal chassis, decent input devices, good system performance, high picture quality, very good speakers, long battery runtime
-
-
hardly any maintenance options, limited configuration options, limited connectivity, reduced CPU performance on battery power, only 1 year warranty

There’s no shortage of Windows 10 laptops, and plenty of high-end, design-led choices there too, yet Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 4 still stands out. For this fourth-generation there’s clearly evolution where it was needed, rather than revolution for its own sake, and while the result isn’t an...

Handsome and portable, Great display, Battery life fixes the shortcomings of the old model, Great keyboard and trackpad

Port selection needs updating, Performance can't match Apple's M1 chip, Gets expensive for the higher-spec models

The Surface Laptop 4 isn't a budget option, but it's sleek and powerful with excellent battery life and a gorgeous screen in a very portable package. What you're getting is a balanced system that's tuned to give you a sensible trade-off between performance and battery life, but if you need the extra...

Good performance and excellent portability, Long battery life, Gorgeous 3:2 touchscreen display, Stylish metal and fabric design options

Keyboard action could be firmer, Short on ports, Moderate SSD performance

While it doesn't set a new standard for laptops, the Surface Laptop 4 is a balanced machine that's a joy to use. The Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 is a well-rounded laptop: it has a long battery life, a fast processor, a sturdy aluminum body, a phenomenal user experience, and a great screen.

Beautiful stylus-enabled touchscreen, Incredible keyboard and trackpad, Strong performance

Configuration options are limited, Battery life shorter than advertised

If you are looking for a laptop that’s zippy, has a great screen and is a nice all-rounder, then Microsoft’s new Surface Laptop 4 has to be on your shortlist.

The Surface Laptop 4 13.5 with the Intel processor is basically just a minor update with a new and faster processor, but the biggest advantage is the more efficient and faster integrated GPU. Everything else is pretty much the same.

+
sturdy and high-quality metal chassis, decent input devices, good system performance, high picture quality, very good speakers
-
-
hardly any maintenance options, no LTE, comparatively short battery runtime, limited configuration options, still no Thunderbolt; limited connectivity, slow response times, bad price-performance ratio, only 1 year warranty

An impressively quick, ultraportable laptop, but the Surface Laptop 4 can’t quite match the M1 MacBook Air
-
+
Hugely likeable design, Choice of AMD and Intel CPUs, Great touchscreen
-
-
Graphics performance below par, Middling battery life, Cheaper models are Alcantara only

It's a small upgrade over the third-gen, but this fourth-gen model is still a favourite. Only small irks - such as dated-looking screen surrounds - impact a laptop that's nigh-on perfect for day-to-day use in almost every other regard.
-
+
Superb touchpad, Lovely aluminium design (or optional Alcantara), Solid and fast-feel keyboard, Excellent speakers
-
-
Upgrades are pricey, Display contrast could be higher, Screen surrounds are large by 2021 standards

The Surface Laptop 4 is another top-quality, premium Windows 10 notebook from Microsoft. It feels great, still stands out in a crowd and – most importantly – works really well: fast, quiet and without the hassle of the rubbish software trials (except Office) that often riddle Windows competitors.
-
+
Pros: great keyboard, good trackpad, choice of Alcantara or aluminium, USB-A and USB-C port, great screen, Windows Hello, quiet operation, choice of AMD or Intel chips, no bloatware pre-installed.
-
-
Cons: no SD card reader, no Thunderbolt 3/4, only one USB-C port, battery life nowhere near class leader, no update in design over predecessor.

The competition for the choice PC laptop typically centres around something from Dell or Lenovo, though HP has managed to surprise in recent years , as well. And this year, Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 4 makes an impression, too.

A nice, well constructed laptop, Soft Alcantara keyboard section feels lovely on the hands and wrists, Has both Type A and Type C ports, Can be charged from both the Type C and Surface connector, Solid battery life (depending on what you're doing), Comes with Windows 10 Home pre-installed and not...

An extra Type C port would have made a difference, Not a lot of difference in design
Ultrabook, Tablet Hardness Screen, long battery life, Alcantara makes you feel more confident (grippy)you won’t lose control of it on your lap, also helps with spills. Feels confidently professional on the case and body, it’s lightweight but again confidently metallic weight.
I bought this computer because of my experience with the Surface Laptop 3. The model 4 does not disappoint. It's very fast, well built, and quiet.
Fast, good battery life, pretty light. Overall a solid product. I don’t have any complaints. I wish it came in black but that’s got nothing to do with how it works or the quality.
I like how thin the laptop is but I miss having the extra ports.
Surface 4 is one of the most powerful and strongest laptops ever, which contains the newest tech including some AI tech tricks as well. A great machine.
