Remember when you used to give out bags with your tripods manfrotto?I bought a set of legs and a head, you think that would warrant protecting them. Or at least put a link how to purchase one. imho
I guess I shouldnt be surprised since its from Manfrotto, but this tripod head is truly awesome and a cut WELL above any of the other tripod heads I have. Doing more video with my Canon 70D, Ive found smooth pan and tilt control to be a challenge.
Its super smooth in all directions, versatile (can control pan and tilt drag), massive and professional.Im so happy I chose this head over others. And for its price - its the best deal. You wont be disappointed.
I have to use this head backwards so that the tilt lock is on the left side and the pan lock is on the back. The handle then attaches to the front right side (which is supposed to be the back left side if using it the way they designed it).
I have only had this set for a month now, gotta say I am thoroughlyimpressed. It is onesolid combination, the tripod is extremelysturdy and the head is a workhorse and smooth as butter. I know I will be using this set for years to come. Very, very happy with this INVESTMENT.
Im sorry to say we own 90 of these. Student use is hard use, but even so, Ive never had knobs just falling off of tripod heads before. This head is just is not as rugged as other Manfrotto video heads we have owned.
We have several previous model 055 with 501 heads. This new 055 with the 502 head is one pound heavier than the old 055/501 , at about 10.2 lbs with generic case and the manfrotto telescopic pan bar. But, the fluid action is smoother and the tripod slightly heavier duty.
I had been using a video head purchased years ago which began squeaking. After researching several models, I decided on the Manfrotto which bigger than I had imagined. I used it with my little Canon Vixia. I was concerned that it would not work with the lighter camera.
Worth more than the price. Very sturdy, well constructed seems like it would hold a heavier camera mount if needed. The fluid pan takes some getting use to. You need to twist the head clockwise to tighten the resistance so the fluid pan will work correctly. This is a constant issue.
Good quality construction. Allows for smooth and fluid tilt-planning.
