This ballhead is the best I have used so far. Sure it is heavier, but it is also highly reliable, will not move or sag and secures the camera very well. Excellent for a full frame camera with a heavy lens.
I bought this rig less than a month ago, and have used it on several occasions with great success. I've set it up as a normal tripod, and as a low level tripod, using the 90 degree arm.
Fellow Photographers,First, let's clear this up, this is a solid product with a smooth fluid motion of the ball head. Now to the point, I've heard a lot about compatibility issues with Arca Swiss style plates. The Arca Swiss design of this ball head is as good as any other I've used.
I grew up with Manfrotto ball heads and tripods. My push to this ball head over the BHQ2 was the idea that the Arca Swiss connect would bring some standardization to my gear. I recently purchased the Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens, which comes with an Arca Swiss quick connect.
Wow I love my new Manfrotto 055CX pro tri-pod and Xpro ball head. I got it and used it on the eclipse this last Monday. That is all I have had time to use it but I did love it. The $140.00 off plus the $140.00 rebate made it affordable for me as I am retired.
Awsome ball head. Very happy. Someone correctly said when it says lock means lock.
We've only used this ball head for a couple of projects but so far, so good. Well built and works well.
I like the top lock Quick-release system, it is easy and fast to use.
I bought this ball head with manfrotto tripod during thanksgiving deals in November 2016. It worked great till the last week. I was shooting the milky way during the night at the grand tetons using my Nikon D810 with Nikkor 14-24 mm. I had my gear properly tight and with proper settings.
Nice build quality.
