I had this lens for a few weeks and really enjoyed seeing what the lens could do on a Leica M9. It’s compact, it’s built to last, it has some of the best glass that you can pack into a lens barrel, it is sharp, contrasty, and delivers great all-around performance.

Everybody knows perfectly well that Leica values its products very highly. Although the 2/75 model is not the most expensive in theSummicron series, it is also not the cheapest one and you must admit that the sum of over 3400 $ might make you weak at the knees.

sensational build quality,, excellent image quality in the centre of the field of view starting right from the maximum relative aperture,, very low chromatic aberration,, negligible distortion,, slight coma,, well-corrected astigmatism,, sensibly low vignetting which disappears completely on slight...

too „soft” at the edge of the frame by f/2.0 –f/2.8,, very high price.

I don't very often use this lens but I would be very reluctant to get rid of it. I recently sold my 90mm Summicron (pre asph) and I don't miss it one bit, although it was a beautiful lens.

This lens is significantly smaller than the 90mm APO cron and the IQ is quite similar (the 90mm is perhaps a hair better). That alone is quite a feat. Unfortunately, the IQ falls apart if *any* direct light falls onto the front glass.

Excellent lens , beautiful color contrast and ridiculous sharpness. Must have.

This is an amazing lens. And, for all its character, sharpness, rendering and clarity of micro contrast, color, etc... it is my all time favorite lens... for its IQ and appeal.Even though it is not generally my go to lens, it is the one lens I never want to be without.

The resolution is almost clinical in nature, even when opened wide. Micro-contrast is high and can produce very compelling textures on your subjects. Contrast is also very high. Colors are exquisitely reproduced. If there are strong lights hitting the lens, it flares quite easily.

Awesome glass. I prefer this over the 90 APO ASPH as its a bit smaller and actually fills more of the frame due to the close focus limit. Renders very similar to the 50 Summilux ASPH and is ridiculously sharp wide open.

Wasn't sure I wanted to invest in this lens, but glad I did. I have owned many different brands and types of lens, but I must say this is simply the best I have owned yet.

I have been a Leica rangefinder camera man all my life, M4, M6, and now the M9. My old Leica M lens are still very nice, but when I mounted the 75mm lens to my M9, the shots are beyond belief, the sharpness, contrast, and bokeh are so refined, it is like capturing life at that moment.

[...] I didn't see how it could possibly live up to the hype written about it on the internet, but my opinion is now that it does, and then some. Images in the plane of focus are rendered undistorted, tack-sharp, and with a sense of immediacy that is a little hard to describe.
