The Leica C-Lux pocket camera is a premium edition of the Panasonic ZS200. It's prettier, but also pricier.

  • +

15x zoom power., 20MP 1-inch image sensor., 9.4fps burst capture., Raw image support., Touch LCD., Sharp 4K video., Wi-Fi.

  • -

Narrow aperture., EVF on the small side., LCD doesn't tilt., Crop limits wide-angle 4K video capture.

On paper the C-Lux pretty much has it all: a compact camera with a large image sensor promising decent image quality, teamed with 15x optical zoom. Add respectable video specs and extras like Wi-Fi and a high-res EVF and there's a lot to like here.

  • +

Relatively large sensor, Versatile zoom range, Feature-packed, with 4K video

  • -

Just a re-skin of a (much) cheaper Panasonic, Image quality barely beats a camera phone, Screen doesn't articulate

As I wrote at the beginning, the Leica C-Lux is versatile, flexible and anyone can use it. And at the same time it’s sophisticated and has all of the manual and advanced features to satisfy your hobby Jonesing. But there are some negatives. It’s a bit heavy and expensive.

Overall this is an excellent camera for anyone looking for a high end Point and Shoot to carry along day to day. Perhaps as a compliment to your M series Leica? It performs well, looks good and is easy to use. Its made well and has excellent battery life. It’s an overall excellent camera.

Yes, £875 is a lot to spend on a compact camera – it would alternatively buy a very decent interchangeable compact system camera or consumer level DSLR for example – even if you do get more ‘bang’ for your buck in the shape of a one inch sensor.

An attractive-looking, pocketable digicam with some useful features for family photographers and an excellent software bundle. The Leica C-Lux 1 has so much in common with Panasonic’s DMC-FX01 model that we suspect both cameras came from the same factory – readers may wish to check the review of the...

Elegant camera with excellent finish and built quality. LCD display is bright and the controls are intuitive and easy to use. The 28-102 mm zoom lens is quite versatile and photos are sharp, especially outdoor shots. The OIS image stabilizer also works well. Very pleased with this camera.

A great little camera with outstanding image quality and it has the red dot. Photos taken with the F100 and 28-70 AFS compared to the c-lux - I cannot tell the difference in a 4X6 print. Photos taken with the F100 compared to the 7900 cool-pix - Yes I can see a difference. Problems: none

I have a lot of experiences with most of Canon compact cameras from Pro S1, A620, S400, 450,500, 550, 700IS, and 800IS. Then I decided to go with Leica because of its legacy on film and tried it with its first line compact digital camera. I have no regret for it at all.

First of all, this thing is SMALL, which is great. The photos you see all over the net don't do its size justice. Photographic historians can say with great veracity that Leica literally set the standard in photography for camera miniaturization nearly 100 years ago.
