The Garmin Fenix 5 is a still a superb multisports watch, which successfully packages up every element of Garmin's incredible array of specialist devices. For those who demand the best from running, cycling, swimming, hiking and even golf it's an unbeatable device. Of course, there are downsides.

  • +

Incredible array of data, Every imaginable sport, Slimmer and lighter

  • -

Optical HR not the strongest, Recovery advice a bit conservative, Easy to accidentally pause workouts

It's packed with features, and can deliver very detailed information for those who like to monitor their activities in minute detail.

If money's no object, and you have no issue dropping £500+ on a great, modern, connected sports watch, the Fenix 5 will surely leave you satisfied. It’s got enough smartphone connected-ness about it without hogging your attention, but really excels when it comes to sports tracking.

  • +

Amazing battery life, Solid build quality, Huge range of sports tracking and features, Reliable performance

  • -

Might be big for some, Proprietary 22mm QuickFit bands only, Screen doesn't look great

This is a great watch and big improvement over the Fenix 3. This watch does it all heart rate, messages, training metrics, weather and almost every sport tracking under the sun. The GPS is more accurate than my Fenix 3. The app is much better than the competition from suunto.

The heart rate sensor is not always accurate during really vigorous exercise.

This replaced a Garmin Forerunner 910XT. I have been mostly happy with it. The watch truly has so much data that I cannot even come close to tracking everything. The Forerunner typically showed higher Aerobic TEs for specific workouts (frequently a whole number higher, such as 4.8 on the Forerunner...

All I can say is WOW! This is one of gamin's most advanced running/triathlon watches ever. The mapping feature is really more of a bonus and if you are looking to buy this watch solely for mapping/nav I'd venture to say you'd be better off spending the money on a handheld unit.

So I got this to replace my 920xt. When in wieght training mode, the wrist HR reads WAY low. A bit annoyed by this but more annoyed that it doesn’t hold my accurate HR when I am cycling. I looked down when I was working hard and it read “105” and I know it was at least at “160.

I have had the Fenix for a few weeks now and I have primarily bought it to use while hunting. I'm still getting used to the watch but so far I really like it. The watch is built for fitness but also works really well for hunting. The gps navigation works great and the battery life is outstanding.

The watch has required multiple software updates and hard resets. (which in itself stinks, because each reset requires you start completely over with not only your data compilation, but with the extensive setting and options that are available) The optical HR sensor (like all) is limited and...
