Handling and features This compact prime lens for Fujifilm X-series cameras provides a field of view equivalent to a 41mm lens on a 35mm camera and a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture and was introduced alongside the Fujifilm X-M1 camera, which is currently smallest X-series camera available.
Big sensor, small lens. Is this prime lens the ideal compromise for X-series shooters?
Very similar to the lens on the well received Fuji X100F , this 27mm pancake lens is a great all-round prime. The 41mm equivalent focal length is suited to everything from landscapes to street photography, and Fuji has kept the weight down to a minute 78g, thanks in part to excluding a manual...
Our summary would include nothing but superlatives if only the price of the tested lens wasn’t set so high. You can’t demand almost the same amount of money for a “pancake” lens produced in China, far slower than rival devices from other systems, and for the much faster Fujinon 1.4/35, produced in...
small and neat casing,, excellent image quality in the frame centre,, negligible chromatic aberration,, well corrected spherical aberration,, low astigmatism,, fast and accurate autofocus.
high vignetting,, weak image quality on the edge of the frame near the maximum relative, aperture,, exorbitant price.
The Fujinon XF 27mm f/2.8 may not be the most attractive lens around regarding its focal length but it is certainly a very capable performer. In terms of sharpness it plays in the highest league especially when stopping down a bit.
Those looking for as compact a lens as possible for their X-series camera have no other option as lightweight and compact as this lens available to them at the moment. This lens delivers very high levels of sharpness in the centre of the frame, and although adequate, the performance towards the...
Great sharpness in the centre, Good build quality, Low falloff and distortion, Low CA
Autofocus can hunt in low light and at close distances, Not as sharp towards the edges of the frame, Loss of contrast when shooting into the light
After I had looking into the Fujifilm system I made up my mind that I was going to jump in, but I didn't have the money to buy a camera, but the XF 27mm f/2.8 lens was on sale, so I bought it. Yes I bought a lens but didn't have the camera.
Arrived in great condition with all caps and covers. This lens is a MUST in any person's camera bag. Allows for super quick focus, incredible depth of field, and good for quick snaps.
Firstly I will start by saying this lens is a really nice compact lens that produces nice sharp photos. Problem is that it is slow to focus and noisy as it focuses which I have not experienced with a prime lens before. I could not tolerate these shortcomings and sold my copy.
I purchased this pancake lens for my wife after she expressed interest in having a smaller lens for her Fuji X-T10, making the whole kit more compact and possible to fit in a small purse. She absolutely loves this lens for street photography and travel.
Surprisingly slow autofocus on my xpro2. Not sure why, but it hunts a lot compared to every other fuji lens i've used. Really excellent optics though.
crisper than my 18-135 WARNING: don't buy this lens for video, the autofocus (and even the manual) is horrifically loud. you can't use the natural audio you used when filming because it's making noise almost constantly.
This is not a cheap lens by any means, but it is just superb and well worth the cost. The lines are straight without distortion. The colors are really true. I love the low profile of this lens, because it puts people at ease.
I purchased this lens as a permatnent installation on an old-school Fuji X-E1. The lens doesn't look like much, but the images it turns out are just stellar. I call this combo my po' man's X-100/S/T. A great walk-about combo that still works at the professional APS-C format.
Great little lens. Not quite as sharp as the 18-55mm XF kit lens, but extremely compact. Good focal length for general purpose photography. With this lens on an X-T20, it's almost point-and-shoot size - great for travel and street photography.
focus ring is quite stiff unlike other XF fujinons (supposed to be their high end lenses) hence taking away one star from otherwise 4 star but on automatic focussing works satisfactorily. Buyers advised to check with Fujifilm if this item will be covered by Fuji warranty in Canada or not.
