Handling and features This compact prime lens for Fujifilm X-series cameras provides a field of view equivalent to a 41mm lens on a 35mm camera and a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture and was introduced alongside the Fujifilm X-M1 camera, which is currently smallest X-series camera available.

Big sensor, small lens. Is this prime lens the ideal compromise for X-series shooters?

Very similar to the lens on the well received Fuji X100F , this 27mm pancake lens is a great all-round prime. The 41mm equivalent focal length is suited to everything from landscapes to street photography, and Fuji has kept the weight down to a minute 78g, thanks in part to excluding a manual...

Our summary would include nothing but superlatives if only the price of the tested lens wasn’t set so high. You can’t demand almost the same amount of money for a “pancake” lens produced in China, far slower than rival devices from other systems, and for the much faster Fujinon 1.4/35, produced in...

The Fujinon XF 27mm f/2.8 may not be the most attractive lens around regarding its focal length but it is certainly a very capable performer. In terms of sharpness it plays in the highest league especially when stopping down a bit.

5 August 2013

Those looking for as compact a lens as possible for their X-series camera have no other option as lightweight and compact as this lens available to them at the moment. This lens delivers very high levels of sharpness in the centre of the frame, and although adequate, the performance towards the...

Great sharpness in the centre, Good build quality, Low falloff and distortion, Low CA

  • -

Autofocus can hunt in low light and at close distances, Not as sharp towards the edges of the frame, Loss of contrast when shooting into the light

This is the lens no one ever talks about... The about 40mm field of view doesn't seem to match with any traditional line of lenses and the f2.8 is the darkest of Fuji primes.... Boring right? Not at all... This is the perfect street photography lens! Ultra light weight and compact!

The number one rule of photography is if you left it at home because it's too big or bulky, then it's no good to anyone! This on my XT1 means it's a go anywhere, anytime camera. enough said.

This lens is great to have in your kitbag... It's lightweight and can be the lens that stays on the camera for most photography. It becomes equivalent to a 40.5mm lens on the X Series cameras. It produces very good results and it's only downside, for me, was its price.

This lens is an odd focal length falling between the traditional (35 mm FF ) equivalents of 3mm and 50mm, but the optical quality is pretty good, and the max aperture is reasonably wide, and the ting is tiny so on the M1 I got as a toe-dipping into the Fuji system it rivals the 100T and like that...

I decided to try out the FujiX-trans sensor and so got the cheapest kit that would allow me to do that; the X-M1 with this 27mm lens and the 16-50 zoom and a free 50-230zoom.

I tried the wide zoom but found the focus a bit slow and haven't got round to using the long zoom because , well,...

Superb lens. It makes my Fuji XT-1 compact and easy to carry for those ad-hoc and family shots. Adding the very quiet shutter with this lense makes the XT-1 very easy to use without being a distraction to those around you.

24 July 2014

Nice image quality and fairly wide aperture, but best feature is, it makes the X-E1 / X-M1 like a pocket size compact.
The only problem is, the quality of the XF 18-55mm is so good, I don't use this one much.

Excellent size and very sharp. Noisy focus but fairly quick. Very difficult filter thread size (size is somewhat arbitrary). More expensive than it ought to be.

14 July 2014

Small, compact, very very light with a fairly fast autofocus. The focusing ring on mine is very stiff, not sure if that is normal but the image quality is also great. I use mine with a fuji xe2 and the whole setup is extremely light and compact. Must have.

Worked great for traveling small to go to Europe. I didn't like how noisy the focusing was when in video mode. You can't really shoot video with it. But I loooove my pictures.
