The Canon EOS 70D is a first-rate 20.2MP DSLR and gives one of our favorites, the Nikon D7100, a very good run for the money. We really like the operability and still quality of both. However, the Canon really trumps Nikon on the video front. Canon’s new Dual Pixel AF technology is a real winner.

Love the features on the camera, have not had time to use it much yet. But be sure to read instructions on how to use lens on manual setting. Not a mechanical connection like the older 19-55mm and the 55-250mm.

Upgraded from an older rebel to 70d. So far extremely pleased. Controls are different and it has a lot more settings but I've been able to figure out what I need without any difficulty. This camera will do a lot more than I need it to and takes great pictures

I am a professional videographer and this was going to be my main production camera. That was a bad idea. It's a photo camera that is capable of recording video with significant limitations, but which is being market for video shooting.

  I like the wide range of zoom on the lens. It shoots video. It has the standard features of a DSLR in this price range. Overall, it is a functional camera. They claim the autofocus is great, but I can't substantiate that.

  Died stone cold dead after <1 year, during a shoot. Also, not great for video shooting - no headphone output, no AC power supply, only records 30 mins before stopping without notifying you, the WiFi function isn't available in video mode, etc.

This well-built camera following the 7D, with its breakthrough technology sensor, needs bugs fixed before I recommend anyone buying it. The autofocus system does not work as well as older camera models and the microadjustment tool does not help.
