The Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM is a unique lens that can capture a circular image or zoom-in for a more traditional fish-eye look, but you'll pay a lot for it.
-
+
Unique, zooming fish-eye design. Full circular image at wide angle. Full-frame compatibility. L-series construction.

Hood must be removed for full circular effect. Expensive.
Every so often, a product comes along that just blows you away - one that completely makes you rethink your photography. The Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L USM Fisheye Lens is, without a doubt, one of the most radical lenses Canon has introduced - and it is a game changer for photographers.
This is the world’s widest full-coverage fisheye zoom and the only such zoom in Canon’s catalog. The 8–15mm f/4L ($1,500, street) offers 180-degree views on all EOS bodies, and, uniquely, on full-frame EOS models it can produce both circular and full-coverage (corner-to-corner) fisheye images.Canon...
While we can't tell you quantitatively just how good the Canon 8-15mm &131;/4 L USM Fisheye lens is, we can say that it's both a versatile and fun lens to use. It's basically two fisheye lenses in one, offering full horizontal and vertical 180 degree coverage on full-frame bodies, and a more...
The EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye lens is a highly-anticipated and unique lens in Canon’s lineup. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and will give a hands-on “user report” review of it below.
Nobody can deny that this interesting fisheye lens performs well, is built well and offers a unique two lenses in one solution for full frame camera users, and users of multiple Canon sensor formats.

Excellent sharpness, in the centre of the image area, Superb build, Unique zoom design effectively gives full-frame users two lenses in one, Useful for owners of multiple Canon camera formats

Expensive, No way to lock the lens at either end of the focal range, High CA levels towards edges of the picture area
The Canon EF 8-15mm f/4 USM L Fisheye is a more than welcome addition to the Canon lens lineup. The combination of circular and full frame fish-eye in a single lens is a unique offering in the market. It is also capable of delivering technically decent results.
A wonderfully versatile lens that enables you to switch between circular and diagonal fisheye effects with a twist of the zoom ring
Seriously wide-angled fisheye lens with an equally extreme price-tag. Canon L-series fanatics take note – this is a niche lens that you won’t use every day, so approach with caution.
Although cheaper, lighter lenses are now designed purely for these smaller sensors, professional lenses are still designed for full-frame use. It is rare, however, that both formats are considered, as it is difficult to satisfy both from one lens without overly inflating the cost or sacrificing the...
This lens works with both Full Frame Cameras (sensor) and APS-C Cameras. You get the full circle with the full frame sensor but do not with the APS-C sensor. The zoom is really to allow you to work between the different cameras. You have more options with the full frame sensor.
great lens, just got it today and haven't put it down for a second. I am still wondering how to shoot in the circular fisheye mode that is shown in the second sample image section, would really like to know--why i bought the lens!!

Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, Super-sharp images
This is a great ultra-wide angle lens which can add some new flavor to your portfolio. Be careful not to over do it. Also, keep in mind that some vignetting occurs when used with cropped sensors.
-
+
Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Easily Interchangeable
-
-
Difficult to Clean
Love the fisheye effect on the full frame sensor
A VERY UNIQUE lens indeed! While a fisheye isn't for everyone, I find that if you're in a rut photographically, put this baby on your camera! If that doesn't get you going, I don't know what will.

Great lens with more functionality than the previous 15mm!

I use a Canon 5Ds 50mp body. I've been shooting Canon cameras for 30+ years.I had hoped for a lens that could take strong cropping. This isn't it,The circular full-frame edge has strong chromatic aberration. If it is in view... you better like blue.
This is a fun lens that can create some really unique images. However I don't find myself in a position where I need that look very often so unfortunately mine sits on the shelf a lot. But it performs as well as you would expect Canon L glass to perform.
One of my panoramas I madehttp://chapran.us/Panoramas/Macy's%2020161014/
This is really two lenses in one, a really fun circular fisheye and a regular full frame fisheye and they both work great. It's not cheap, but hey, it's two lenses. It's a specialty lens that you won't use every day but sometime you just need it.
It delivers 180° diagonal angle of view images for all EOS SLR cameras with imaging formats ranging from full-frame to APS-C, and provides 180° circular fisheye images for full-frame EOS models.
It features UD glass for suppression of chromatic aberration, a Subwavelength coating for reduced ghosting, a newly developed Fluorine coating that keeps soiling, smears and fingerprints to a minimum, has full-time manual focus for instant switching from AF to Manual operation, and is built to the standards of the amazing Canon L-series of lenses.
This means the finest optics, the best construction and the best performance available, all in a lens designedto stimulate creativity and deliver stunning images every time.
