The Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM is a unique lens that can capture a circular image or zoom-in for a more traditional fish-eye look, but you'll pay a lot for it.
Unique, zooming fish-eye design. Full circular image at wide angle. Full-frame compatibility. L-series construction.
Hood must be removed for full circular effect. Expensive.
Crucially these capabilities fill a number of gaps in Canon's lens catalogue. Previously only one of the four configurations mentioned above was possible with a Canon branded lens, and it was decades old.
180 degree diagonal fisheye for all Canon DSLRs., 180 degree circular fisheye for full-frame DSLRs., Tough build with weatherproofing., Optically sharp across the entire imaging circle.
Vulnerable-looking front element., Lens cap easily comes loose., Chromatic aberrations in areas of high contrast., Full circular fisheye only available to full-frame.

This is the world’s widest full-coverage fisheye zoom and the only such zoom in Canon’s catalog. The 8–15mm f/4L ($1,500, street) offers 180-degree views on all EOS bodies, and, uniquely, on full-frame EOS models it can produce both circular and full-coverage (corner-to-corner) fisheye images.Canon...
The EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye lens is a highly-anticipated and unique lens in Canon’s lineup. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and will give a hands-on “user report” review of it below.
This lens works with both Full Frame Cameras (sensor) and APS-C Cameras. You get the full circle with the full frame sensor but do not with the APS-C sensor. The zoom is really to allow you to work between the different cameras. You have more options with the full frame sensor.
Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Strong Construction
I use this for all my event photography. I usually don't go below 14mm and when I do is for extreme dramatic concert crowd shots. The lens is very sharp. The only thing about it is that bothers me a bit is delicate convex. I wish it could be more protected at times.
Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
One of the most important things about this lens is that it can be used as a wide angle without distortion on a smaller sensor camera like 50d,60d,70d etc. at 15mm. You can still have the fisheye if you want - but can be used also for car interiors, dogs nose and get interesting shots.
It's a very nice product
This is a great ultra-wide angle lens which can add some new flavor to your portfolio. Be careful not to over do it. Also, keep in mind that some vignetting occurs when used with cropped sensors.
Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Easily Interchangeable
Difficult to Clean
The Canon 8-15mm zoom is an L series lens unlike anything I have ever seen before. It is a unique lens that is solidly built with endless creative capabilities.
It delivers 180° diagonal angle of view images for all EOS SLR cameras with imaging formats ranging from full-frame to APS-C, and provides 180° circular fisheye images for full-frame EOS models.
It features UD glass for suppression of chromatic aberration, a Subwavelength coating for reduced ghosting, a newly developed Fluorine coating that keeps soiling, smears and fingerprints to a minimum, has full-time manual focus for instant switching from AF to Manual operation, and is built to the standards of the amazing Canon L-series of lenses.
This means the finest optics, the best construction and the best performance available, all in a lens designedto stimulate creativity and deliver stunning images every time.
