Simply superb camera
Canon EOS R5 2 for wildlife photography. Beginning amateur. After owning film cameras and an array of DSLR bodies I moved through R 7, R6 and R6 II with delight, learning from friends and following tips from generous internet posters I became confident enough to buy an R5 Mark II and the results I have seen within a couple of months have made me a very happy beginning amateur bird photographer. The focus capabilities, the IS, the precapture option and the low light performance as well as 45 mp have made my photos improve dramatically and filled me with joy every time I come home and look at my pictures.

Outstanding for Sports as well as Wildlife
I purchased R5 mk 2 in February 2026 .. Set up was as Easy as my R6 .. R6 mk 2 .. if yoy are a Canon User with Any Real Experience , there is NO LEARNING CURVE with the R 5 mk 2 .. any Questions on set up or New Features are Easily Explained on Numerous Youtube Videos .. R 5 mk 2 is VASTLY SUPERIOR to the R 6 mk 2 .. Focus is Slightly Quicker , Focus REMAINS LOCKED on Subject Far .. Far Better than R6 mk 2 and the Eye Track Focus is MASSIVE Improvement over ZONE FOCUS for Sports .. Allows you to ISOLATE the Subject you want in a Crowded Field .. Enclosed are JPEG shots from the 2026 Daytona 200 Motorcycle Race taken with RF 100 - 500 L .. and RF 200 - 800 .. I can not Emphasize how Great a Camera this really is .. For the Price , this is FANTASTIC ! ..... You will Not Be Dissapointed ..

Vastly improved camera for fast action photography.
Extremely fast and accurate autofocus. Excellent for sports and wildlife photography. Compared to my R5, the focusing locks on and tracks moving subjects better. The pre shooting ( precapture ) is game changing for sports and fast moving wildlife. I’m using firmware 1.0.3 and so far, I’ve seen no concerns. If you have an R5 and primarily shoot weddings, product photography or landscapes, the R5 and R5ii are pretty comparable. If you shoot sports or fast moving wildlife, the R5ii is far more capable. I do hope a new firmware update will allow rapid turn on/turn off of preshooting via a back button.

Enjoying this camera!
I am a Wildlife Photographer, focusing on birds and upgraded from the R6 M2 to the R5 M2. The speed, accurate auto focusing, pre-focusing ability and the Highlight tone Priority are a game changer! As I prefer to shoot in bright light, I am not overly concerned that this camera does not perform as well as the R6 M2 in low light. Overall, a good choice for me!

R5 MK II Camera Review - Great Camera
I purchased the R5 MK II Camera in November of 2025 and this has been a nice upgrade from the R6 MK II, but enjoying both of them. Fast, Sharp, Accurate, and a joy to use. I will keep this simple and just show you some basic photos that were shot with Canon L series lenses including the RF14-35 F4, RF24-105 F4, RF50 1.4, RF70-200 F4, and RF100-500 F4.5-7.1.

i do love the camera but i have had so many issues with it overheating , not wanting to turn on , i had to send it in for auto focus problems and was toll the board was damage , it was in repair for over a month , so far so good but just few weeks ago it froze during a shoot , had prombles turn it on , and just a few days from updating to the lastes firmware it wouldnt register the batterys as full it keep saying they wore death , after turn it off and on a few times it was working fine

Excellent Camera with High Noise Levels
I enjoy using my Canon R5 Mark Ii; however, my biggest disappointment is the high iso noise levels are significantly higher than my 5D Mark IV and R1. After seeing the images produced by the R5 Mark II compared to my other 2 cameras, I believe 30 megapixels is the sweet spot. Most images from my R5 Mar II need to have noise reduction in Lightroom applied. Otherwise, the R5 Mark II is a great camera.

Blown away. Buy one!
I started my transition from DSLRs to mirrorless last summer (2024) with the purchase of an R5 and the RF 28-70mm F2 L. The huge leap mirrorless represents blew me away. Then the R5 Mark II came out. So many additional features and capabilities! I almost immediately sold the R5 (while unloading the 2 5D Mark IVs) and bought 2 R5 Mark IIs. I have since replaced all of my EF glass with the superior RF lenses.
I have only good things to say about these cameras and their accessories. It's reinvigorated my passion for shooting. And made my video skills much better.
