I love this camera. The video is what I expect for the resolution. The stereo audio recording is really good. I'm currently using it to record choir practices and it picks up all the parts very well.
Was not satisfied with the Video at all. For the extreme price of this camera I would have expected more for that price ...instead they nickel and dime you to death for accessories that should have been included in the first place. I certainly would not recommend this item.
Perfect for our smaller functions
The Q8 Handy Camara is used for ministry video recording. The Handy Cam offers such features as, 1) XLR and TSR audio cable ports (detachable dual microphone included with Handy Cam), 2) wide-angle zoom lens, 3) clear digital screen with audio peak display. Great product at a very affordable cost.
I love the audio quality, but the video quality is horrific in low light conditions. Video quality is not bad if the room is well lit, or if your recording outdoors during daylight hours
While the Q8 is probably good for making "decent" home videos of you favorite band at a club, it is not suitable for much else. The on-board audio mixer is great and partly the reason we purchased this camera, for live music streaming. However, a few big problems. 1.
This is basically a good mike with video for reference. For the price it should have a much better lens and image processing. It is atrocious in low light and the lens is a wide angle with huge distortions on the edges. Very disappointed.
Limited "zoom" function has 5 zones, not a smooth transition. On no zoom, the image distorts slightly around edges (fish eye)and is more pronounced than at close zoom. Audio quality is superb, and probably better than any cam in its class/ price range.
Zoom has always made superlative audio projects. I currently own the H2n audio recorder and it's awesome. Zoom has used the same excellent standards in the audio portion of the Q8 video camera, however the video quality is pitiful.
The absence of an optical zoom on the Zoom Q8 is my only gripe... A zoom should have a zoom, right.
