I bought the Zoom Q4 to record myself singing & playing guitar to put myself on Face Book & Youtube. I love the mics of the unit which is the quality I was looking for. Video is also worth the price.
Good resolution (HDTV) and relatively good low light capability for the price. The sound recorded is rather good for such small couple of microphone. It does record stereo sound very well and its small size enable the recording the video easy and a small tripod can be used for recording.
Sound quality is excellent and fully adjustable. Video quality is completely adjustable. For the cost they might want to think about including a HDMI to Micro cable that IS required and had to be purchased separately... Overall, very satisfied!
Returned for the Q8, but a great low priced video recorder.
Okay so we will break this down into categories: Video, Audio, then overall Build VIDEO Pros -You can make out an image Cons -Really there is no manual settings to change anything in video -Image can be grainy, blurry and distorted -No image stabilization, so bad rolling shuttered is torsion -Really...
The only improvement I can think of is the addition of zoom. Which admittedly may go against its purpose.
This is not the greatest video-camera or audio recorder and for the price don't expect it to be, but it can save your day. When taping live performances I put it on a 13 foot light pole, with an external battery taped to it, connected to the camera via USB.
Tiny but efficient.
After a few months with this recorder, I'm completely satisfied. As a musician, I really appreciate the sound quality of the recordings. As a videographer, I would love if the unit had a zoom lens rather than just the two available settings. That being said, the quality of the lens is good.
Never consider using this camera unless there is total sunlight. The video will be totally grainy!
