THe interface is much improved. Much more intuitive.A dial for volume control, easy to see and easy to use transport controls on the face.More info on the screen.More choices for bitrate/quality.Uses AAA instead of AA, which isn't important to me though now i have to carry two different sizes.
The reality was better than the description. Very well designed feature list. Very happy. Only improvement possible would be to make the sound mark function on either/both the line out and speaker to make video/sound sync easier. It currently is recorded and available on the line out.
I purchased the Zoom H1n as a higher quality recorder for videos. Haven't begun to test the recorders possibilities yet but it's fairly intuitive to use. I did cheat and watch a couple of youtube videos to speed up the learning curve.
I am completely satisfied with this recorder. I have used the old H1 for several years, and it has been a workhorse, producing fine audio quality. This updated model works well. I have heard that using the limiter introduces extra noise into the recording, so probably wont use that much.
Caveat: Ive only owned the Zoom H1n for a few weeks so I dont know about its longevity as it is a tiny piece of technology in a plastic case. But so far, so good. Excellent sound quality, perfect for getting jams, song fragments and licks down.
Good recorder, bit noisy if handled while recording.
It's very handy, indeed. Compact, good sound, choice of files and much more. It is a little clunky and the interface is not intuitive, could be better, but once you get the hang of it, it is fine. A very reliable and good quality device, excellent value for money.
Great little recorder on a budget
What a great little recording. Discrete with inbuilt very good XY microphones. Coupled with Zoom SPH1N Accessory Pack for H1N which makes it the current model H1N-VP makes for a robust kit for even outdoors spontaneous recordings.
A very good Japanese-made device for stereo recording. It comes with a good user interface and automatically set thresholds.
