Zoom H1 Ultra-Portable Digital Audio Recorder

In my opinion, the Zoom H1 does a pretty good job at providing a stereo recording experience. It did provide a far better recording verses the Sony and Olympus recorders but only a little bit better than the recorder on the Kodak Playtouch.

Have only had this a week or so, but I like it so far. Low noise recording from sound board into mic/line in on the H1, for a live musical performance. Worked great.Tried out the USB audio input into a PC and it worked fine, but I'm not sure I would use that for a real application.

The recorder has two choices of recording .WAV and .MP3. Very convenient switches to toggle. Gain control option. I have been using this for music recordings for last 5 years. No issues, physical wear and tear is there but recording sound quality is amazing.

Overall, an excellent recorder for the price, better for novices & more portable than the H2.

  LOTS of handling noise, more than zoom h2, use a tripod or mic stand! Stereo mics can sound "echoey" - use a windscreen, still experimenting with levels & settings. Some components of accessory kit should really be included with base recorder (a/c adapter & windscreen & case)

Works great for what I use it for

I only used this once so far, outside. It did a really good job. As with other comments, it picks up a large amount of ambient noise...which it should since it's not a shotgun mic. I bought the accessory kit and used the foam ball.

The good:- Exceptional sound quality for the price and size- Easy to use all the most important functions (including switching between MP3 and WAV) are done through hardware switches, so very little futzing with software menus.

This is a must have accessory. Sound is perfect and quality very reliable. Excellent for when you need that audio used as lavalier.

I use this as my main goto audio recorder for either the officiant/groom. works great no complaints.

I have been looking at the Zoom recorders for some time now. A friend of mine had an older version and I was impressed with it even then. SO the blue one went on sale for $30 less than the others, and I found this sale nowhere else. I knew it was time to act, so I ordered it.
