For me, is definitely worth it. Allowing to use it with almost any size of phones as well as with a GoPro, Zhiyun Smooth Q is a must have in my traveling backpack. It managed to keep my camera steady even when I’m running upstairs.
Smartphones with amazing cameras called cameraphones. However, they are not cheap, and not everyone can buy them. Their price is very high because they offer a good camera with optical or electronic stabilization, advanced sensors and processing algorithms.
Zhiyun Smooth-Q Mobile Gimbal is a good value for money gimbal that offers solid battery life and great video stabilization. However, it falls short when it comes to build quality and app features.
My friend and I ordered one at the same time. He has an iPhone and I have Android. We set our smooth Q's up together. His worked Super. Mine did not and did not have anywhere near as many functions. I contacted Zhiyun and was informed that the software for iPhone was better.
It can only withstand 200g max. You'd better off buying the Zhiyun-Tech Smooth 4, which is around $120 right now.
I've had the Smooth Q for a couple of weeks and have used it in a YouTube video. It's a good gimbal but the app seems to destroy my 6S battery.I like DJI'S control panel layout better but hey, it's only $99 so I think I can love with it!
Coupled to it's Adroid ZY-Play app, which contrary to many reviews, works fine, allowing you to do panoramas and time lapse and hyperlapse videos.Add a Bluetooth ZW-B02 remote controller you can use your phone's camera app and remotely pan and tilt your gimbal.
This is my first gimbal and I purchased it to use with my GoPro Hero 5 (along with an adaptor sold separately) and with my cellphone. Both worked great and it is very easy to set up and use.
Although this gimbal is primarily designed for a smart phone, I use it with an old GoPro Hero 2. The Hero 2 is bulkier than the newer models that work with the adapter so some jerry rigging was required for balance.
Awesome stabilizer stick and really does the job in keeping your camera from being shake so much from your hands. It seems their app is better for iphone as it allows 4k record. But honestly, I dont use their app at all because I prefer to use the regular camera record mode.
Excellent performance. long time battery.
I went with the Smooth-Q over the Smooth 4 because I wanted the joystick over the zoom feature, also got it on sale and it's definitely a great value. However, the app is just a joke. I've seen all these people on YouTube using it to make time lapses and object tracking.
The most fun I've had using my phone for video! Renewed love for my phone videography! The app opens event more opportunities!
