This is a great lens. Color is good, resolution sharp, build is top notch. I like everything about this lens. I give it 4 stars only because it doesn't have the 6 bit coding for Leica (set manually for 24/2.8) and the lens cap could be improved. The glass itself is great.
The Zeiss 25mm ZM and my Summicron 50mm are all I carry when using my Leica MP. The focus is a bit tight but the build and image quality are very good.
Greatest glass on the planet.
I use Zeiss exclusively for my Leicas. (I have nothing against Leica lenses except the price.) The 25mm is a wonderful lens. I favor wides, so the 25 is like a 35 for me. If you not into wides very much the 25 may be a good choice for you.
This lens lives on my M8. Period. If you're used to any of the 35mm wides on a film Leica, Voigtlander Bessa, or Zeiss camera, you'll love this 25mm's coverage - slightly wider than a 35mm lens on a full-frame 35mm camera - on the Leica M8 with its 1.333X crop factor.
I'm using this on my Olympus E-PL5 as my normal lens, and the results are great. Sharp, contrasty, with a lot of depth to the photos. Build quality is perfect, it's a precision instrument. Focus is smooth with no play. The silver version is really attractive and easy to read.
sharp imaging , nice picture
After using this lens, I sold my tri-elmar 28-35-50mm. Don'tget me wrong, the tri-elmar 28-35-50mm is a must have. G read the review on it. But comparing the image, I can't help but taking the trouble of switching between this Biogm 25mm and Summicron 50mm.
I use it on my M9 without a viewfinder. Sharp as a razor and very warm color. Tiny so it is a great companion for travel. I am very happy about this purchase.
This is a great lens for use with the Leica M8 camera. But you need to encode it as a 24mm Leica Elemarit. Once encoded, with a 46mm IR/Cut filter in place, the colors are vibrant and beautiful. Without the encoding and IR/Cut filter, the colors are somewhat off.
