Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm f/2 ZM is one of two 50mm lenses that Zeiss is currently offering in the Leica M bayonet mount format (the other lens being Sonnar 50mm f/1.5 ZM). Planar is one of the most venerable designs in the photo lens industry, originally designed by Paul Rudolph in 1896.

The Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f/2 ZM may be an exotic choice for Sony NEX users but it's certainly a highly interesting one. The lens shows no major weaknesses but there's still room for improvement.

I bought this lens to use it together with a Summilux 35mm on my Leica M10. I was looking for a good lens not too much expensive in order to get closer when needed compared to the main 35mm.

Used in on both Leica and Sony 7rii amazing sharpness, color and pop. in certain cases the bokeh may get a bit too nervous wide open. But overall cant beat performance for price. compared it to Leica 50 1.4 and like this lens better

The lens is very small, It look like a toy. But i works really nice with my camera. If you are doing handheld shots I don't recommend it because it very small and hard to get the focus right.

This is my second Zeiss range finder lens (ZM mount) which I can mount on my M-6, Ricoh GXR/A12M or my new Sony a7r via adaptor.I perfer this classic Planar formula in range finder format, shorter and more compact than SLR version.

The lens will be used with my Zeiss Ikon camera for black and white fotos primarily.

I just moved from an autofocus to a rangefinder (Leica ME) and was looking for an affordable 50 mm. This is the one. It is well made and easy to work with. But as with all 50 mm you gotta get the focus right on, as the depth of field wide open is minimal.

Solidly built and produced very sharp images.*I am using it on Nex-6

I bought this and the 35mm f/2.8 for my Leica M2 and they both ROCK! Very nice construction. Smooth movements and great image quality. I love the 1/3 stops. Makes sense, don't it? I am not sure why I waited in buying these.

I bought this lens as the prime for a Sony Nex -6 after exhaustive research (web reviews, camera shops and even a trade show). The combo is a gift for our daughter for her High School graduation. She is an absolute shutterbug and is thrilled with the lens and camera.
