In 2007, the German optical giant Carl Zeiss began an aggressive move into high-speed, full-frame manual-focus lenses in Canon, Nikon, and Sony DSLR mounts. These appealed particularly to cinematographers, given their silky and quiet manual-focus action, as well as the distinctively soft backgrounds...
At a bit over $2,100 this manual focus lens is about twice the price of the Canon 135 F2 L, which is an AF lens. I have a number of L lenses from Canon. In general, they are quite competent, have fine resolution and color rendering.
Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
I have quite a few lenses, and this one is one of my best. The pure optical quality of this lens is almost unmatched. I rate it as highly as the best of my Leica APO glass. Build construction is first rate as well.
