The air cooler unit is easy to setup for my slider windows, and it does lower temperature by several degrees (if the temp is 80 or below). I believe I should have purchased a large unit with more BTUs for my bedroom which is good sized..
The window kit is poorly made leaves a lot of cracks around kit, top air supply does not adjust and no fan speed or temperature adjustment controls on unit only on remote.
This little machine has saved us during the summer. I'm out in Denver and it doesn't get too hot too often but there are always a few days that it's unbearably hot and the Whynter cooler gets the job done. I'm using it to cool down a 700 sq ft open living/dining area which gets lots of sunlight.
If something happens to the remote there is not a single button to control this thing, not even an off switch. The air cannot be misdirected, youd have to move the whole unit.
It doesn't cool as well as I expected it to. But it does cool, so that's something! We had to buy a hack-saw so we could fit the window cover thing to our window.
Awful they are a nightmare to run you have to empty it 50 times a day it barely cools a small room soon as it gets above 70
I got this Sept 2017 for the Calif Heat wave. It kept tripping the self contained GFI switch after 10-15 minutes. Thought it might be the old wiring in my house, so I gave up on it. Come this years heat wave, I decided to try it again with a dedicated 20amp line.
I bought this last year and only had to empty the water a few times. This year for the last 2 day I have to empty every 2 hours because the humidity is bad. I am disabled and home alone in the day so this is a big task for me.
I bought two to these units in September 2014 and used them during the hot, "monsoonal" and Santa Anna days of Southern California from late 2014 through early 2016. They worked wonderfully, producing plenty of cold air, running relatively quiet, and never having to empty any collected water.
Hard to know where to start. I had about 1-2 days maybe of normal use before it needed to be drained every couple of hours. And not long after that it started draining itself... leaking all over the carpet which is now ruined.
