Whynter ARC122DHP

This AC quickly cooled down our living room. The grey color is a decent match for our decor and it does not stand out like a beacon in the room. The installation was a little more difficult than we expected (based on our first-hand experience with a similar type of AC from a different manufacturer).

Cools down a bedroom quite fast as long as the door is closed. My main complaint is the noise. It was louder at the beginning but seems to have become quieter over time. It's important the unit is level otherwise it will vibrate. I can sleep fine with it on and the timer feature is great.

The air conditioner worked great at first but there seems to be some issues with the compressor/motor once it reaches the appropriate room temp. The unit is programmed to turn off the compressor once the room temperature is within 5 degrees of the set temperature.

Compared to our previous single hose unit from Black and Decker, this thing is amazing. It actually successfully cools our 300 square foot living room, which was not the case with our previous unit. It also gets much colder and you'd feel uncomfortable standing next to it on full blast.

This unit functions well, but is a bit bulkier than I had expected. Dual hoses further add more space connecting to the window bracket. Expandable window bracket works great for my tall primarily horizontally sliding windows.

Did tons of research before buying this model. Used it for 2 summers in a blazing hot upstairs living room and it consistently lowers the temperature by 10-15 degrees. Reasonably quiet and not an energy hog. Need to start it up early, before it gets hot outside for maximum effectiveness.

The A/C (Whynter Elite ARC-122DS) failed in less than eight months. The unit was purchased to cool a small server closet, and was selected because of its dual hose functionality. It worked well for the purpose, and I was pleased with the unit for a while.

This unit is great so far. For a portable A/C unit it's very quiet. Please know, there's nothing on the market that is whisper quiet that you'll be able to cool a space well enough to make it worthwhile. This is as close as I've been able to find to reaching the right balance.

The fan is not strong enough, doesn’t move much air and doesn’t cool affectively. Did not touch the humidity level and almost seemed to make it higher. Replaced it with a 5000 BTU window air conditioner that works perfectly. The discharge hose reaches 100° during operation.

These are expensive, but they work--well. The window kit could be sturdier and easier to work with, but the unit is excellent. Got me through the worst of a steamy summer in comfort.
