Melted control panel and now broken grate?
I loved the double oven at first but after less than a year the control panel melted during a (short) self-cleaning cycle. The repair guy said to run a fan on it if I plan to ever clean the oven again, so when I do I need to have 2 fans cooling the vents on top!
NOW... we noticed that the grate is CRACKED! Having come to this site to perhaps buy a new grate (warranty is up now) I see that many people also have broken grates. I've never heard of such a thing. I'm debating whether to buy them or just get a whole new stove. All my other appliances in the house are Whirlpool and I'm rather loyal to the brand so I'm very disappointed!!

Buyer Beware!
We bought this in April 2017. The grate didn't sit properly on the surface of the cooktop, so we ordered another one which had the same problem. We figured it was a manufacturing defect since both arrived from the warehouse with the same problem. Within 3 months of use, the grate broke (cast iron snapped right off) due to the fact that it doesn't sit properly which presumably causes improper weight distribution. We've replaced the grate three times in the last 6 weeks. Every time we get a new grate it breaks soon thereafter. I absolutely love the double oven but the stove is a nightmare. I'll be expecting a full refund from Whirlpool.

Very stylish!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got this oven through our home warranty. I love how it looks. I like the dual part of it. I like how easy it opens up to clean, and I like that the grates are cast iron. I like the amount of options it has when you go to settings.The negatives about this appliance is that when it gets stained, it is hard for the stains to come off. The knobs are located in the front of the oven and at the height they are at , if you move close to them you can easily move the knobs and not even notice. I don’t like that both of the back burners and the middle one have very low flame.

Looks better that it functions
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The lower oven door on my stove came crooked and I tried all the steps to straighten it but it's still crooked. I called and they are having difficultly finding service in my area. It's been over a week and nobody has shown up.
The stovetop is to shallow front to back and my griddle pan will not fit completely over the middle eye. The rear control panel seems awful close to the back burners so much so that you can't get a very big pot on them without touching it. Also, the flame on the middle eye is more like a simmer that a grill. I wish I would have known this before purchasing.

However, the document that came with the range and the online available user manual are both just 'Installation Manuals' and do not have any content explaining use of the range. I did find a Whirlpool User guide online at a non-Whirlpool site so the document does exist. It would be good if Whirlpool would review their online and paper documentation to make sure that buyers are getting a User Guide and not an Installation Guide.

Melted Control Panel and Broken Grate
I bought this 4 month. First month it melted the control panel while broiling. The next month the grate broke, consistent to other reviews. It’s on the left side grate. It’s true the grate is too high and need to always put the flame high in order to cook. It’s not energy efficient. I like Whirlpool, I replaced all my kitchen appliances, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, but this is the worst quality product I got from Whirlpool.

I have called whirlpool and whirlpool parts multiple times. Every time i have to start all over from the beginning. They dont have the grates and they dont know when they will have them. This is a new model. Why weren't the grates included. How can they not have the parts to a new model?!!!!

We love it!

I like particularly: the grates, how they are simple two pieces & come up easily and come off easily; the fact that there's two ovens! It's been wonderful to cook multiple things at once at different temps but also having the top oven smaller it preheats very quickly and is more economical. We also really like the ease of the controls & control panel. Very user friendly. The only downfall is that the back of the oven is a bit hotter than the front, so you need to rotate food halfway through cooking. But that's not the end of the world.
