Amazing smoker
Recently enter into the meat smoking world , bought this smoker and I love it , the only thing I regret is that I didn’t bought the bigger one , even that this one is not the bigger one, it’s plenty cooking area, I had made 4 brunken chicken and 6 rack of ribs at once, plenty space for 2 turkeys around 15 pounds each, 2 bostonbutt , etc.... I love it , I live in Clinton Massachusetts which it’s really cold weather, and I used the smoker even at 20 degrees temperature , hold the heat extremely good, it’s no one thing that I don’t love about this smoker , my coworker love it too they get pretty excited every time I brought them food .

My WSM
I was new to smoking meat until i purchased this little jewel. After putting it all together i got the coals ready (minion method) and added apple wood chunks and just let it smoke for a few hours and let the coals burn out. The next day i smoked two racks of ribs. 6.5 hours later i had beautiful tender juicy ribs. The temperatures held true like weber said it would for the entire cook. I didn't have to add any more charcoal. Since then, im smoking meats as much as possible, like 2 or 3 times a week. I love this smoker. If your a beginner like me and want a smoker thats extremely forgiving, then you should give this a shot. Dor the price. Its all the bang for your buck.

It's been great for 12+ years
The thing runs like a top and I've been using it for over a decade now with no issues. I load it up and it smokes 12+ hours (210-230) in the summer without messing with it.
The only complaints I've ever had about it is that the door can be a pain and the top doesn't sit over the middle rather than the top sitting inside the middle which means if it rains the water pools up and gets in the smoker. Outside of that, it's been great.
If you're looking at buying one I would suggest getting some gas grill briquettes to fill the water pan with as it really helps to regulate the temp and burn less fuel. Cover them with foil when you smoke and you're gtg.

Great Smoker that needs some enhancements
This smoker works well. Once you get the charcoal going and you add your favorite smoke wood. The grates are large and spread out, so there is a lot of capacity. The water bowl helps keep the temp constant. It's small foot print makes it ideal for patios and balconies. Now for the enhancements:
1. There needs to be a drain hole in the bottom. After a heavy rain, water collect under the charcoal level.
2. There needs to be a gas/lp version. Charcoal is NOT always an option in some locations.
3. Rotate the access door 90 degrees. This will make adding charcoal/smoke wood easier. In its current design, 1/2 the access is obstructed by the water bowl.

not a bad smoker 18.5
Good product. I have owned this for about a month now. I have only used it twice. (ribs 7hr cook and pork butts 11hr cook) No problem with temp control for me. I have used a kettle grill for 20+ years now. This is the 1st smoker that I have owned. The only 3 bad things I can say about it and there kinda minor.
1 wish I bought the 22 instead. my fault
2 It would be nice if the bottom grate was accessible somehow other then taking off the top grate. Not a deal breaker thou.
3 It would be nice if the top grate sat 2 inches lower or so. That way you could add a second temp probe grommet above the top rack. 1 for the lower rack and 1 for the top rack.

100% Buy it - it is worth it!
My husband was against me purchasing this smoker because of the price. He argued that his Weber kettle grill would be able to do the same job as the Weber smokey mountain. So, we had a little competition. As you can see from the photos attached, I was able to lounge around while he had to work on his temps from time to time. The WSM made smoking EASY. It maintains Temps and the heat lasts a solid 4-5 hours depending on your coal usage. I love my WSM and highly recommend it!! I am a first time smoker and I killed the competition. He did great on the weber kettle grill, but the WSM made smoking so much easier.

BEST SMOKER
This smoker is Incredible, Very high quality it holds and maintains temperature beautifully. This is a true smoker, every time I use it (which is every weekend and in between) I am always so impressed and amazed at how well it holds the temperature I adjust it to and not have to worry or keep fiddling with it (just about set it and forget it). The charcoal last a very time, after cooking I can close off the vents to snuff the charcoal out and salvage for the next cook. I could go on about perfect smoke rings on food / flavor ect. Very happy with my WSM 18", I am going to buy the smaller 14" smoker just for smoking seafood in.

Good Smoker, OK Grill
The smoker arrived in good condition and assembly was relatively quick and easy. I have used it a couple of times to smoke and it works great and the temp is steady. It would be better if there were handles on each compartment to make it easier to move around. Also, it is not very easy adding more charcoal or accessing the backside of the lower compartment.
Also, it can be used as a grill but you will have to remove the top half and reach down the barrel of the mid section to get to what you are grilling. I am sure it could be designed to make it dual function and not as cumbersome to use for grilling.
