Perfect size for camp!!
I picked this bbq up for additional room (have been using a weber go anywhere charcoal), and let me tell you....it’s perfect for that. I have a family of 4, and occasionally the kids bring friends on weekend camp trips. We have not run out of room.
This bbq does run a tad bit hotter than my 22” weber. Figured so, with using the same amount of fuel for a lesser area.
I did a few upgrades. Ordered a ash can and did away with the catch plate. Safer for camp, and better air flow control. I also upgraded the pull handle with the newer style that allows you to hang your cooking utincils. If you’re on the edge of buying this bbq, don’t hesitate.

LOVE MY WEBERS!
I have 3 weber grills at this time and will be getting a new Master Touch in the near future. All of my grills work great and I have enjoyed cooking on them. Temps are easy to manage and coals last a long time for those longer cooks. I have converted one of my smokey joes to a smoker and its awesome! I wish Weber would make/sell a conversion kit for this! You cant go wrong with a Weber. Ive tried others and have discarded them all. Smokey joe is my go to for camping and road trips, larger kettle is my home unit and sees me at the handle at least once a week. Looking forward to the newer ash catcher!! Keep up the good work Weber!

New Kettle Vs Old Kettle
Compared to my first Weber Kettle of 30+ years (and still used), the tray for ashes and handles have improved. The new lid is noticeably lighter weight, but unsure that is an improvement. The new kettle was not consistent in temperature (as evidenced by the food being cooked), and I'm thinking it was the change in lid, as I've been cooking with charcoal for the years noted. Some issues with assembling. Two legs were difficult to insert. Used WD40, which helped. Also, one of the clips (to insert into the leg) was too long for the machined hole. The first kettle I received was damaged, but received excellent customer service for a replacement.

Awesome grill for the money.
I'm very happy with the Weber 18" grill, holds the heat well and has plenty of room for XL lump charcoal. I've only had hamburgers and T-Bones so far, both were great. Will try smoking pork once I've learned how to control the temperature, it rises to 300+ really quick. I don't have the problem with the handle on the lid getting hot as mentioned in some of the older reviews but it appears the newer models have a heat shield that solved the problem.
I recommend watching a YouTube video on assembly, it will save you time and eliminate problems, takes about 15 minutes with the video help.

It just keeps on grilling and grilling
My dad had a Weber kettle grill that my mother kept for at least 10 years after he died, until she moved to an apartment.
After going through a number of gas grills ourselves for a few years, we finally bought this 18in charcoal grill, basing it on the premise that fewer moving parts is more when it comes to grills. I can't even say how old it is, but it's at least 20+ years old. We've replaced the inner grill (grate?) a few times over the years, because that's what takes a beating. It will last forever!

This grill is supplemental to my Genesis. Since 1975, I’ve owned a Smokey Joe, a Kettle Grill, a Performer, a Smokey Mountain and a Genesis. So I have a lot of experience with Weber. I love this little 18 1/2” Kettle Grill. If I feel like the flavor of charcoal over the Genesis one night, it’s an easy transition. If I feel like low and slow smoking (225-250) I can do that too. I can get still a nice smoke ring using it. (My WSM is at our cabin.)
I did add the ash pan to it. It’s extremely easy to install and makes cleaning the kettle much easier. Also I use an oven thermometer inside the kettle for insurance on the temp.
I’d highly recommend it. RC.

BACK TO THE KETTLE!
For years I had abandoned a charcoal kettle for the convenience of a gas grill. Recently, my wife found an 18" Weber kettle on sale and brought it home to surprise me. Using some lump charcoal I began experimenting with chicken, steaks, and recently as a side choice for Thanksgiving, some country style ribs. What a difference! And the flavor is over-the-top delicious! The trade off in immediate convenience for flavor is well worth it in our opinion! The ribs were the choice vs the turkey this Thanksgiving. I'm planning on trying a crown pork roast on the Weber for Christmas dinner. Very pleased with the results. Would buy again. Ha!
