Perfect Height
I haven’t cooked over charcoal for 10+ years but wanted to get back into it. The only charcoal grills I have owned in the past have been Weber’s so when researching I finally decided on the Performer. So far I have done steaks, ribs, chicken, veggies it’s like I never left. The quality of this grill is as good as I remember Weber charcoal grills being. Simple to use and excellent results. Two things I really like about my new Performer are the folding shelf and the height of the grill overall. Glad to be back in the charcoal world.

Like the original kettle...only better!
I have been a Weber kettle user for well over 30 years. I had one of the original style 22" kettles that just literally will not die. :-) I still have it! However, I was tired of missing out on all the great features of the classic kettle that are provided by the Performer series. I am so glad I upgraded. I use my kettle for long, low cooks more than grilling, although it excels at both. With a little bit of tweaking, I am able to get over 8 hours of low and slow temps in the 250 degree range, producing awesome ribs, butt roasts, and briskets. Highly recommend for anyone considering a new charcoal grill/smoker.

As good as ceramic
I’ve had a BGE and Primo ceramic smokers and the Weber Performer ranks right up there with them. Easy to regulate the temps for low and slow, or hot and fast. Big plus is it weighs just a fraction of those ceramic cookers for easy moving around the patio/deck. Did I mention that the cost is a mere fraction of the ceramic cookers. You want extra smoke it’s really easy to add whatever wood you want. Just all around easy to cook with. I’ve done a pork butt, salmon, chicken, and ribs, and all have come out with fantastic quality. I could have saved a lot of money if I had bought this 5 years ago.

The ash catcher is great!
I've had this grill for a couple of months now and am very pleased with it. The venting works great, the thermometer is a great feature, the lid holder works very well and the ash catcher is the bomb!! You can shut the vents and it will choke off the heat in a hurry, allowing you to cover the grill and leaving some charcoal for the next time. The only niggles I have with it is that the "cart" part seems a little weak over cobblestones, and there is no place for the grate when loading charcoal. I added a couple of zip ties to the bottom shelf so the grate doesn't slip all the way to the shelf for ease of retrieval.

As Expected - a great grill
Years ago I had an 18” Weber, I enjoyed it and grilled some great food. When it got damaged in a storm I thought I would try gas for the convenience. After going through a couple cheap grills over the years, I stepped up and purchased a Weber Spirit and have been very pleased. However, I’ve always had charcoal on the back of my mind and finally talked myself into adding the Weber Performer to my patio. This has been a great choice. Whether steaks and corn on the cob over direct heat or smoked pork tenderloin with indirect, the flavor has been amazing. Very happy with my purchase..

Almost Perfect
I have owned Weber grills my entire adult life almost exclusively (I’m 51). I choose Weber for historically high quality products and this product is no different. I honestly wish a few things were better. I really do not prefer the fold down table: too flimsy and too small. (The other model is WAY too expensive for that convenience). Also, I think Weber should acknowledge that competitors are offering simple mods that improve quality of life without much (or any) expense: Specifically wired thermometer ports and potentially a fan/ temp controller port.
All in all, I am satisfied with this product, but I may consider other brands because of my personal perceived better value.

Nice grill that needs simple improvements
Very nice compact and functional design. Very easy assembly with quality components. Fit and finish is first class. Two elements could use improvement: 1. the swing-up table is a bit flimsy. The table needs some reinforcement and the latching mechanism needs improvement. I tend to want to move the grill by lifting on the table and rolling the unit on the two larger wheels. that table unlatches when I do this. 2. The lower wire basket suspended between the legs should be firmly attached to the two plastic cross-wheel braces to prevent the wheel sets from pulling apart when moving the unit on rough surface like a flagstone patio.

Disappointed in my New Grille.
I've tried it once for a cookout with 10 people. The fire was hot (around 400 degrees) after about 20 minutes. Then it began to fade, even though the dampers and air flow was set for high heat. I had to move much of the meat from this new unit to my 20 year old basic Weber Kettle Grille. Luckily, the old Weber was able to finish cooking the chicken breasts. I apprehensive about using this new grille, especially for a large crowd, until I can figure out why the grille did not work properly. I have owned Charcoal Weber Kettle Grilles for decades and I've never had this problem with the older units.
