I am a professional wildlife biologist, post-secondary educator in applied fish and wildlife biology, avid birder/wildlife photographer, and hunter, so, needless to say, my use of this tool are diverse.
This is such an improvement over my old scope that it is hard to be objective. Great clarity at near and long distance. Good light transfer. Has already stood up in a great fashion to some tough use/abuse. Focus knobs focus quickly and sharply. See-through case is a challenge to put on.
So far I am loving it. It is the right size for me (5'2", 100#), has a nice wide field of view, making it easy to find birds, and focuses easily for good close-up views.
My review: Outstanding! So much to see - lots of cool things to check out! Love it! Thank you!
This is my first spotting scope and so far I am very pleased. I use it to look at marine traffic in the bay. The ship channel is 5 1/2 miles away and the other side of the bay is 11 miles. I can see ships very clearly in the channel.
I recently used this spotting scope on an antelope hunt in Southern Alberta and it met my expectations. It saves a lot of steps when you can take a close up look at an animal without needing to hike closer.
For the money, this scope cannot be beat.
I bought this scope primarily for birding, and am very happy with it. I hesitated about buying the 65mm objective scope as opposed to the 80mm, but find it entirely adequate for my needs.
Overall a good value product for the cost. Works well out to about 600m, even in dense brush. Optics are reasonably clear at higher magnifications. In retrospect I should have purchased a 80mm for better light transmission. Not a Nightforce or Swarovski, but a solid alternative at an economy price.
My entire family absolutely loves the Vortex Viber. Not only is it exellent on the range while shooting it is beyond outstanding in the field while scouting and hunting.
