Vortex Diamondback 8x42 binoculars feature fully multicoated optics and a dielectric-coated roof prism help deliver clear, crisp images in a lightweight packages. Adjustments are easy to make, the build quality draws many compliments, and the rubberized coating feels sturdy in your hand.

  • +

Amazing optics for the price, Excellent low-light performance, Very good build quality, durability, Great customer service and warranty

  • -

Field of view decreased slightly, Better glass would improve low-light performance

In the Vortex line-up, the Viper HD are the next step down from the top-of-the-line. The top tier Vortex model is the Razor HD, with a price point closer to the Swarovski. Just like the Nikon Monarch 7 is a step down from the Nikon EDG, which also costs about the same as the Swarovski.

Very clear and bright, easy to adjust, comfortable and quality

So to sum up, if you are looking for a binocular with very high quality optics that translates to an extremely good view, but don't fancy spending the mega sums of money that the "top end" brand names sell for, then I highly recommend the Vortex 8x42 Viper HD Binoculars.

The Vortex Viper HD 8x42 binoculars have high-density, extra-low dispersion glass, fully multicoated lenses and dielectric-coated roof prisms to gather more light. They're also waterproof and argon-purged to prevent lens fog.

  • +

Great optics, Excellent low-light performance, Fully waterproof and fog-proof, Compact, easy to hold, Unusually good close focus

  • -

Field of view could be better

A quick thanks to Vortex Optics for shipping me these to review. I would however like to point out that this review, just like every other I write on Best Binocular Reviews is 100% my opinion, they are not biased and I am not influenced in any way by any manufacturer, distributor or supplier.

Bought both the Vortex Diamondback and Nikon Monarch 5 for travel. The contrast and sharpness are very comparable with Nikon a tag better. My husband likes the Vortex better as it fits his bigger hand and provides a wider field.

I have owned several top drawer binoculars (including Leitz Trinovid) over the years. The Vortex Crossfire are comparable in every way besides price. The Vortex lifetime warranty should answer any concerns about quality and durability.

Excellent product I use binoculars for birding and have tried a variety of models in the inexpensive-to-intermediate price range ($100-300). I strongly prefer the Vortex Diamondback 8x42 Binocular over the others. First, the optics are sharp and remarkably bright in low light.

I wanted to upgrade from my EO Denali, so I paid a visit to the Eagle Optics store and asked to try the EO Ranger ED, EO Golden Eagle HD, and the Swarovski EL (the last one only to check the gold standard in binoculars, I had no intention to purchase something that expensive).

I have the 10X50 and I like them a lot. Very clear and easy to focus. Great binoculars so far. Only thing I don't like is the free bag is to small for the 10X50 Crossfire binoculars

I own the high dollar Swarovski binoculars and spotting scope and rifle scope, well there was an issue with the binoculars and sent them back in for repair and guess what on these high dollars full warranty company, they wanted a payment, well after a argument on the phone I paid it but I will never...

This is a very good binocular for the price, but many reviewers over rate them, built quality is solid, 8*42 is the best size for any one except for shooting, field of view is good in 8 power and 42 objective lens will allow light to come in good proportion, 8 magnification will help to reach good...

I bought the Vortex Crossfire 10X50 Binoculars on a special Cabella's promotion. The free harness they came with isn't so great but I love the binoculars! They're easy to focus and the images are so clear. I think these binoculars are a great bargain and I will recommend them to anybody!
