It's a little soft in spots, but I *love* the creamy quality of this glass. I'm using it with MB adapter on my X Pro2 and the images are amazing.
Great lens for the money have it on my Fuji x pro 1 and gives photos a film like look very nice
Everything ok thanks a lot.
The build quality is amazing. This lens is not a leica but for leica cameras. It feels expensive in the hand. Solid build, Smooth focus ring. The glass is spotless and the aperture blades (9 of them) are perfectly aligned. I will write a follow up review after I have used it for film photography.
Just like Leica lens but with more characters. I like this one a lot.
This is more or less your only option for an M mount 35mm f/1.4 lens at this price point. If you're willing to lose a stop and put up with some viewfinder blockage, you can go with the Zeiss 35 f/2 ZM. This Voigtlander is very compact - no finder blockage - and is well built.
This is a Leica M Mount lens and I don't have a genuine Leica 35mm lens to compare it to, only a 50mm Summicron. The Leica equivalent, the 35mm f/1.4 ASPH Summilux-M, costs ten times what I paid for this lens on the used market.
Even stopped down to f/2, this lens is significantly less sharp near the edges of an APS-C sensor than the cheap Canon EF-M 22mm f/2. It's ok near the center, but come on, really? I am frustrated by all the reviews trying to make it sound like fine wine and feel like a sucker for buying it.
It's not the best but it's better than others. Leica lenses would always be better but for people who are looking for lenses that are cheaper and have good quality then this will be the next choice.
I got this lens to compliment my Leica M9. I couldn't afford the $2000-$7000 lenses, so this would be my first lens for my rangefinder. I wasn't expecting much in terms of build quality but damn this piece is built like a tank.
